Riots Break Out in Baltimore

Recommended Posts

RavingWithJesus

Late Monday (today), protestors over the death of 25-year old Freddie Gray, have started rioting in the streets of Baltimore. Gray was killed from a spinal cord injury, which happened while in custody of the Baltimore PD. Gangs, most notably the Crips, have encouraged gangs to go after all police officers.

"They don't deserve this any more than Freddie Gray deserved it," he said about the injured officers.

This is true... Police abuse of power HAS to stop, but using violence to achieve this isn't acceptable.

Rioting and looting a person's business with smiles on their faces, in the name of Freddie Gray's cruel death. F*ck's wrong with people?! And they still expect us to sympathize with their cause?

*sigh*

That isn't what this is supposed to be about... what a f*cking shame. Fox will latch on to those images and just play them on a loop, forever helping to cheapen the true struggle.

That kid in the picture looks 13.

Rioting is pathetic no matter if it's in protest or celebration.

So is injuring officers, breaking their bones and making them suffer from serious injuries. Really, really pathetic. Shame it's still continuing well into the night.

Not trying to be racist here, but it amazes me how the black community in America always cries foul over inequality and how disadvantaged American institutions and society is towards them, yet they turn around and riot and act like they're above American institutions and society.

Talking about riots whilst ignoring the context is pretty silly, folks.

What's wrong with expropriating commodities, exactly? I'm sure you've pirated music or shoplifted at some point. It's the same thing.

You're seriously trying to legitimize that looting a destroyed store is the same thing as pirating music? And that there's nothing wrong with stealing? f*ck's the matter with you?

I understand that people are angry, but looting Mike and Ikes from a convenience store is in no way related to protesting for equality.

Commodities are commodities. Whether it's an album or a bag of Doritos, it's the same exact thing.

Stealing cars and driving them through bonfires in the middle of a big intersection is really going to make a statement.

People have to realize that not all black people are like this. There are a lot of really great black people. There are white people out there that are even worse than this. But black people are not helping their image by doing stuff like this. The media jumps all over it.

Dogg, just stop, even as trolling this is lame. These rioters are taking things that do not belong to them from a store that had nothing to do with the incident in the name of a fallen civilian all while sporting big smiles on their faces and wearing masks like criminals. There is zero justification for their actions.

Yeah, aside from stealing, I fail to see how those two things should even be compared to each other. Even with piracy, the entertainment industry is still holding its own. These local businesses don't have the luxury of bouncing back from robbery of this magnitude, especially that Pharmacy that went up in flames. Stealing music isn't going to hurt that industry in catastrophic ways, but what just happened in Baltimore is going to hurt the communities really bad. That Pharmacy was the main store in that district....

When it's escalated into stealing goods from local stores because of a death in the neighborhood, you know it's not accomplishing much other than stepping urban black men back a couple steps in social appeal.

Not trolling. All commodities are products of exploited labor. I see nothing wrong with people taking it upon themselves to appropriate the means of survival or pleasure when the have the chance to do so, especially not in a society that already elevates commodities--to an even higher level than black men killed in police custody, apparently--promotes mass consumption, and manufactures an artificial demand for useless items.

Fix it for you. How about next time have some common sense and don't generalize a group of people for the actions of a few.

This is not "protesting", this idiocy is nothing but a disgusting display of opportunism. These morons don't care that their looting of pharmacies and convenience stores and burning of cars dilutes, not to say obliterates, the message under the guise of which they're operating and achieves the exact opposite of what the many many people who do actually care fight for, and only creates a bigger divide and more animosity. No as long as they can stuff their pockets with stolen snacks, light bonfires in the middle of the street, it's all good. Actually honouring the name of the deceased, raising awareness and helping to work towards a solution for the larger problem be damned.

If these kids only knew what their grandparents went though while protesting for Black Rights and how they achieved it though peaceful protesting, But in today society i doubt it would make a difference.

These kids are just using this man death to benfit themselves how it Candy & stealing TV helping the cause?

MLK is rolling over in his grave at what these kids are doing, He didn't die so they could do this.

The family of Freedy Grey is encourging peaceful protest but i have a feeling just like Michael Brown family they are happy it's happening

I was being sarcastic.

Although protest can accomplish stuff, rioting can not.
