Why are there so many black cars in GTA V?

I've noticed that most traffic cars in this game are black. And when they aren't, they're either red or white. Any other color is very rare. Is the traffic color palette that crappy or is there something wrong with my game?

Some game engine limits: more the cars currently active, less the color variation. Maybe a leftover from old consoles version.

Cars that aren't either black, white or red are even less common for me than custom cars. I have the traffic variety set to maximum and the density to minimum (although there's still more traffic on the roads than there was in GTA IV).

Why? Because in reality, it's far more likely to find a black, white, or red car than a neon green car.

Go to any place of work, you will not find them there.

There are never black cars there.

Obviously there was a car crash and all cars are going to a funeral in GTA v

Yeah but 1. Black cars make about 75% of traffic, 20% being white or red and 5% whatever. And 2. You're also more likely to see a silver or blue car than black.

They finally sent me a replacement for my broken disc, so I was able to install GTA V from the discs. Turns out doing so fixed this, huh.

You get much more colour variation in GTA V compared to GTA IV. On that game you got a lot of yellow taxi's and white police cars of course, but the ordinary general public cars were pretty much either in snot green or rusty brown.

It's a RAGE limitation i'm afraid. Although I'm suprised at the traffic variation we do get now, compared to what it used to be. I don't see many of the same model of car close together anymore, but what the game seems to do is load random cars in between common cars/colours and places them in your vicinity.

In the PS2 era the games used a clever trick in which the vehicle you are driving suddenly becomes more prevalent on the roads. So, if the player is driving a BF Injection, and there are 10 cars close by, perhaps 2 or 3 of them will also be a BF Injection, rather than making the game generate 10 different cars, which is a heavier payload. I think I still see this at times in GTA5.

Perhaps they do something similar with the colours.

I do feel that white / black / red is totally just Yaaaaaaaawwwwn though as well. I'd like to see more aqua, golden type of colours.
