...feeling bad about not writing here for 4 weeks.

 

Though not to make you think this is dead, I started doing the game's intro video from scratch. Also i'm remaking some things in menu. Basically, all the things that doesn't put my computer to fire due to the summer heat. Will upload some of the interface tidbits next week.

Talking bout next week..,not 1,2 but 3 Weeks passed and no updates. :sui:

Why do you keep Dissappearing after posting something?? it's a busta thing you know.. :r*::lol:

You do realize,people have life's instead of staying in front of a computer 24/24?

At least he showed us something, you can be sure he's working on the mod.

Sorry guys for keeping you waiting and for not keeping my word about screens to be released that week..

 

Slowly progressing on the project, but as Dacia said, I'm one of those older members of the community and besides being here, I have some other things to do as well. I work in a game store so I earn money. Besides that, I own an xbox-related website that still needs to get to the level where it can work on it's own. Things have changed in my life and with the unstoppable aging, I would have less and less time for modding. In fact I'm sure that the First Builds release will be my personal farewell from the modding scene.

 

Back to the topic, there's some weird glitch in Red Light District that causes the game to load only a LOD model for one building. Others are fine, but I'll have to check it so I will be sure that it happens only with that one building (opposite Luigi's bar)

Any chances for the very late 2016 release date?? or delay again

 

Can't wait how this mod will turn out.looks promosing already.

 

It was a plan. As you can see, I missed that date. Currently reworking some of the cars because I found out some new tricks in Zmodeler :p

 

From now on, I won't tell any info related to release date, unless the mod will be really, really close to completion.

 

Also some current info:

  • Continuing work on a way better machine and a 20" screen. I can now see what I'm doing!
  • Remaking cars as I mentioned above
  • Gotta finish a few buildings and fix issues with cars
  • My previous iteration of Securicar is lost somewhere on the oldest dev kit.
  • Playing around with some alpha-ish damage model. That might take some while
  • Fixed an issue that caused some buildings not to load in Red Light District
  • First Builds might have frontend issues on some Windows 10 machines. This may be also caused by running the game from a USB stick
  • First Builds won't support Steam version for Windows. It supports the Mac Steam version however

I hope this mod is still alive...somehow.

 

Been doing some adjustments recently and testing a new timecyc. Wasn't happy with that, so First Builds will stick to the one it had from the very start.

Just asking, when we can expect first builds to be released though? It's a very interesting mod and im looking forward to it.

Personally, I hope it gets finally released this year. Depends on how much things I have to do elsewhere

Dev Update:

 

It's been three and half years since the original announcement of this mod. Since then, many things have changed in my life. For years, I had plans of shipping GTA3: First Builds once everything's done, in a complete state. Now, even though I'm not paying that much attention to this mod anymore, I still have to admit it taught me a lot, especially when it comes to game and level design.

 

For last two years, I've been already working on a different, far bigger project I can't talk about right now, but GTA3: First Builds has certainly helped me to get to where I am now. It would be sad, if I didn't pay homage to this project.

 

Thus, even though First Builds aren't complete, I am about to release the WIP version of the mod in next few days so anyone can be able to enjoy the experience of the "cartoony" version of the game. The mod also includes - with Alex' permission - some stuff from the very first GTA3 Beta mod released.

 

I have to say huge Thank You to all supporters, as well as members of GTA3D Team, who I'm still in touch from time to time.
