not sure about PS2 games' serial numbers, but there's SLES-50330 written on the disc, so I guess this is the thing you're looking for :p also, I will make screens and movies tomorrow, not now because it's midnight and I don't want to unbox and connect the PS2 at this hour.

 

Also, I was not sure about those Patriots, so thanks for heads up :) Since I remade pedgroups for First Builds in 2013, i don't remember whether it was also in the basic game or not.

found it on mobygames, it's SLUS-20062 :) (so I guess I were also right about the serial number of the UK/EU version :D)

Also, found out the "BUSTED" text was just simply more red due to stronger contrast on a TV I played on yesterday. But other things remain.

That's not even the first release, I have the launch GTA III on PS2 and it has black case with a different disc design & soundtrack sampler.

The Black one is The most early. Can you make some video or screens from gameplay?

Sorry for the dumb question, but what are you shown here? Is a early build or have any difference? I don't see any difference to the USA release that I have.

I have one of those early copies of game for the PAL region and saw there are some differences that put this version closer to the beta when it comes to car graphics plus some other minor details.

 

Also for denis1379, do you mean this one? If so, then you have the german release which had a different cover than other european countries. But it should be the same game as mine.

wow :O what's on the soundtrack sampler CD?

I've lost the disc, but IIRC it's just samples from each radio station (I think it has the whole of head radio though)

After playing the PS2 version a lot recently, I realise how bad of a port the PC version truly is. The colors on the PC are all wrong and bland, the timecyc is off and barely noticeable, the smoke and rain effects are nerfed on PC, reflections, headlights, the list goes on. If only there was a way to get the blue NYPD police car back on the PS2 version, I would be set! The annoying thing is my intro shows the blue police cars + enforcer!

Why shouldn't it be possible to get the blue police car into the PS2 game? You can replace the dff and txd (have to generate a PS2 txd of course) and make a new iso.

Easier said then done, I've tried in the past, couldn't even get .dummy file to delete, overall it was a pain! not to mention I no longer have my TEST PS2 :(

Building isos is very easy and you can quickly test things in pcsx2. I use Sony's cdgen and iml2iso. Only TXDs are a bit harder to create but The_GTA's txdgen can create them.

Use SkyGFX and the Liberty City Leftovers Fix to make the PC version more like the PS2 one. Not 100% perfect, but very close to a perfect emulation of the PS2 version without the horrible frame-rate drops.

I'll take the frame drops. the PC version just doesn't feel right.

I prefer playing games on platforms they were originally released for, for the intended experience ;) Also I think that First Builds will be released this year if everything goes fine :p

 

The reason I haven't shown any new screens lately is that I currently spend a lot of time with testing and refining some details. One thing I plan is, that First Builds won't get any 1.0.1, 1.1, 1.x releases just because I didn't fix everything on the first time. First Builds will be released as a whole thing that will be ready for both Windows and Mac. Also, First Builds won't get a public beta release - if it did, then I won't be a reason to finish it ;)
