Later, I updated my driver to 350.12 through geforce experience and now I get the problem in the thread title when the social club window pops up. edit: worth noting that at the end of the update to my drivers, the program crashed. I restarted & when I opened up geforce experience it says version 350.12 installed. But now I have this crashing problem. CrazyLamer Posted April 23, 2015 Share Posted April 23, 2015 hmm that's weird, try reinstalling the driver, remove 3D vision stuff if you don't use 3D glasses with a 3D screen, and just to be sure, try updating your direct x, reboot the computer and try again. CrazyLamer Posted April 24, 2015 Share Posted April 24, 2015 In the geforce drivers installer, i have the option for Drivers, 3D Vision drivers and one more regarding 3D vision, Physx and Geforce Experience if you choose custom install. And also the Clean install option, i'd guess you chose the express install ? try reinstalling the drivers or just go into the installer and see if the options are there. After the installation & a system restart, battle.net & nvidia control panel are now working, but social club continues to crash when I try launching gta5. Something definitely got corrupted during some time after you quit the game and installed the new drivers for some weird reason. And if it do crash again after reinstalling the social club launcher manually from rockstars site, see if there is any info regarding the crash or/and if possible, post the crash log here and i'll see what i can do after that. Good luck and keep trying mate, until i hear from you. I went to rockstars site and couldn't find where to download social club. So I did the next best thing in the mean time and reinstalled it using the installer within steams gta5 folder. it didn't fix the problem. there was no crash log either. Johan Posted April 24, 2015 Share Posted April 24, 2015 If you have Windows 8 and above, an old fix for that was to go to your device manager and going to Display Adapters, if you have 2 or more devices there then simply disable the one your PC uses and then launch the game that way, AFTER the Social Club app disappears and boots up the game.. re-enable the device just in time to play the game. But there are a few options left, uninstall display driver and adapter through control panel and the program uninstall icon, and then go to devices and uninstall the display adapter, reboot computer, let it install the basic stuff and then use a program called regcleaner to wipe the registry clean from any possible errors, then reinstall the nvidia drivers, same options as before except the clean install thingy, i don't think that will be necessary. If that doesn't work then damned me, im out of options except for reinstalling the whole computer and that is a pain in the rear. Did that myself countless times before getting to Windows 7 and then to 8 and getting an ssd drive. Anyway i hope any of this helps, otherwise i've got no idea how to get it up and running, sorry. This worked... this time anyway. lol. game worked the first time I launched it and look what happened I assume rockstar knows about this issue? any idea if they plan to fix it any time soon? I'm a total noob at this stuff, and since Johan's suggestion is working (the 1 time I tried it anyway) I'll save your suggestion for later if it's needed. That issue's been around since launch actually.. happened to me the second the game unlocked and after 3 hours of messing around with many possibilities, I randomly tried that and it worked. It SHOULD work every time you do it, so it's not just a one time thing. The latest patch did fix it for me however and now I can launch the game normally by just pressing "Play" on Steam. Perhaps as more patches release, it'll slowly start working for others facing this issue as well. R* should be aware of it at this point if they haven't yet. Enjoy the game!
