Stealing the Lazer on PC

So I've made nearly a dozen attempts without success at the hangar in Zancudo. I'm doing the same thing as all the vids on youtube but getting shot down before I can get away, yet on youtube they rarely even take one missile hit. I'm assuming it's because of a difference between the 2013 versions and the current PC version (maybe?). I love the challenge don't get me wrong, I'm just not sure how to get away without being shot out of the sky within 10 seconds, any help/tips are much appreciated.

just keep flying really low until you are a small distance away from the base.. if you still end up with a missile on your ass, evade it by doing sharp turns / slowing down followed by a sharp turn just before the missile reaches you

 

you can also avoid the tanks if you use a car to get into the base, if you come near a parked jet but you see tanks close-by do a lap around the runway and return, repeat until the tanks are a fair distance from the jet. if you parachute in it's harder to avoid the tanks

I've seen on youtube, that you can take that big Journey vehicle ( or something similar ), and park it next to the Fort Zancudo base fence, get on top of it, and then you can jump over it. Then you can, or at least try, to stealthy sneak into a jet.

Try to taxi as long as possible and don´t take off until you´re near the fence. Then stay as low as possible.

- He also mentioned cousin Cletus and that the Lazer was necessary to hunt a elk.

- Grant him access, then. Cousin Cletus knows how to hunt elks.

 

Start Cletus Strangers And Freaks mission in Paleto Forest.

Wait until the wind direction indicator appears.

Instead of hunting, grab the car of Cletus and drive to Fort Zancudo.

No wanted level.

Steal whatever you want, tank/Lazer/Titan

Fly to airstrip.

Climb out and plant a sticky somewhere AWAY from the plane.

Climb back in.

Detonate the sticky.

Fail the mission, as a elk has heard you, miles away.

Decide not to repeat the mission.

You are now sitting in a Lazer you can store.

 

This glitch still works since PS3.

Nope i'm afraid. After completion you get loaded right there where you were previously.

What I did when me and my kids were first trying to steal the lazer on my PS3

 

Get in a plane with a parachute and fly toward fort zancudo--- get really high... when you get close to the base- use your phone to quick save-- that way you can reload and retry easily.

 

Parachute in and steal one out by the runway... you will probably have to kill a couple soldiers.... get in plane and head west down runway-- stay low-- as you approach the fence come up and then go back down and out over the water.... after you clear the base area-- stay our over the water and evade and helis that spawn til you lose your wanted level.... repeat as necessary by reloading.

 

My youngest (8 years old)-- was the first to sucessfully steal the plane (before I learned the above method)-- he was able to evade the missles-- At the time, I was letting my kids play GTA V under close supervision... I don't normally condone this but we were living under extraordinary circumstances.

Here is a trick: If you can get in the air.....if you get hit with a missile, do a quicksave of the game. Go ahead and ride the plane until it crashes, then load your quicksave and when it loads, your plane will not have any damage.

I was able to get into the air many times, but was always getting shot down before I could get away. The quicksave trick allowed me to get away with a non-damaged plane.

I always took off as soon as possible. I mean, I was off the ground as soon as I got out of the hangar. You want to get away from the base as soon as possible, as while over or on the base you are taking fire not only from missiles, but tanks and small arms fire.

So I would come out of the hangar and be airborne immediately, and I would do a hard bank left or right, and fly over the mountain directly north of the base, sticking as close to ground as possible. Certainly once you get over the mountain, you are much safer, and sticking close to the ground you are not on their radar.
