Easy Bounty

Bounties should be claimed with tactics; outsmarting your opponent. There's too much "chase that car and throw a sticky on it". If I have a bounty on me, I want to be killed without knowing it. I don't want my last few moments to be full of stress as I race away from a helicopter. I want to walk out a store and be sniped in the head from a rooftop that's 3 blocks away. R* really needs to add a lobby option that sets maps on or off. It would make tactics more "worthy" and possible.

But that's exactly what you did. You went off the radar, went to his car and throw a sticky on it. It wasn't a skillful play, you didn't "outsmart" him. You went off the radar and stickybombed his car. You went for the cheapest, safest kill you could.

Most memorable bounty for me was actually one my friend got back on the 360 days.

Last time i checked, the sniper rifle has a range limit of about 5,000 feet (on xb1 at least) but back in the day on 360 if you could see it you could hit. And if you kept an air vehicle zoomed in on your scope you could see it rediculously far.

The story

Im in my apartment watching the bounty on tv. He was in an f16. My friend is at the airport (lsia) on top of a building shooting at the jet with a sniper rifle. The f16 goes in for a landing at sandy shores and my friend hits it with another sniper round. The engine cut out and the jet crashed. And it gave her the kill.

Undoubtedly it would have been more impressive if she sniped the pilot but i was astounded that she was hitting that jet from so far away. If i hadnt seen it on the tv i wouldnt have believed it

No chance I can remember the first but a couple of easy ones spring to mind. The first one was when I was chilling out on a mountaintop with a friend and just before we got back in the car I spotted a nearby bounty, so I walked three paces away from where we were, got the heavy sniper out and popped him in the head.

Second one was when I was being stalked by one of those persistent followers, the ones where you're not sure if they're trying to be friendly or troll you, and I wasn't in the mood so I started leaving proximity mines behind me and waiting for him to follow. I got him twice but the third one never detonated for some reason.

Then fifteen minutes later when I was jumping between rooftops on my Bati I saw a notification that I'd claimed a bounty (not the same guy), took me a while to figure out what had happened. I bet the bounty guy had a nasty shock when he ventured down that alleyway with nobody around and got himself blown to smithereens.

I knew someone would point that out (always someone like that) - that's why I added "I don't want my last few moments to be full of stress as I race away from a helicopter." This man...this CRIMINAL that was robbing a store had no clue punishment would be served. He had no clue I was there and it was only too late for him to see that sticky bomb.

I claimed the bounty in a non-typical way which was my point I was trying to make. I wouldn't need "off the radar" if there was a lobby option for no maps. If I wouldn't of used "off the radar", he would of spotted me barreling down the mountain and shoot me while I was still in my vehicle. I would of been a complete idiot to not use "off the radar", in hopes that he wouldn't of looked at his map. But thanks for trying to argue. :/

I can't remember my first bounty, but I remember having a $2 billion one set on me back in December of 2013, and then having the whole lobby chase after me.

I tried my hardest to stay alive, but I got absolutely destroyed.

Ahhhh the Billionaire Days.

Non-typical? You went off the radar and stickybombed his car. That is literally the most "typical" kill you can have. It's practically cowardice - not that collecting bounties is any sort of skillful thing. But it's not exactly something to brag about, people stickybomb each others cars while off the radar all the time. It's the easiest thing to do.

I don´t remember the first one, but I remember that me and my 7 friends once jumped on a train, we gave ud each other $ 9000 bounties, so suddenly the train was $72000 worth. The train drove its usual round and suddenly 10 guys were chasing us in cars, by air and we killed them, of course they got a couple of us as well, but in the end it was fun for 30-40 minuttes.

The day after we did something similar, this time we stole a cargobob and placed a tank on the train, it took a little while, but it worked at the end. Again, bounty on our heads, one dude in the tank, it was a bit shacky, but it worked... 5-6 guys tried to chase us, we killed them constantly and it was more than entertaining.

One I always remember is I spawned in my house up in the bay and there was a bounty at the garage, I climbed on top of the supermarket intending to snipe him but couldn't get a clear aim, then he started driving down the street towards me in a semi and stopped right below me !! So I just hit the truck with an RPG jumped down jacked a car and avoided the Police.

Back in the early days, some dude with a bounty decided to go far out off the Del Perro beach, I guess figuring no one would mess with him out there...he was wrong.

I got my Buzzard, went off-radar when I hit the beach and found him hovering in a Frogger about 20 seconds later. He never even knew what hit him.

My first bounty was 200 million dollars back on PS3 when the DNS era was reigning the world of GTA Online. Best bounty I ever collected.

Was this on PS3 or XB360?

My best bounty kill was when I was relatively new to the game. I was at the level when you are restricted to only own the pump action shotgun.

Some guy got a bounty on him in Mirror Park. I went off radar and quickly drove there. He was in an alley and just as I come around a corner and the off radar clock had a few seconds left I see him start to climb up a ladder. I quickly shoot him in the back and ran back to my car.

A friend was flying and suddenly he got a 500 million bounty. You know what happened next.

He acted like I did? I was so shocked, I was quite new to the game and I panicked and went back to my garage. In there some guy contacted me over the mic asking me to come out, his suggestion was that he would kill me and give me one million (out of like +800 millions). I told him it wasnt a good deal for me and he wasnt to be trusted, in fact I think that at that time one couldnt even share money from bounties with other players. So I started switching sessions until I finally found one with only one other player in it. I then rushed to the marina and grabbed a boat and I took it out to the sea. Then I sat for 45 minutes looking at the map for anyone even coming close to the shore, if they would have I would have switched session again. When those millions became mine my hands were sweaty but I was so happy, I bought the most expensive apartment and bought the most expensive super cars and tunes them up and I bought all clothing and masks. Joyful days!

What was next for you to do? Once you got all you want, what's the point of playing?

Oh, I had a lot of fun playing missions and buying cars and tune them and then sell then when I got tired of them. I also wanted to unlock new weapons etc. And then came the big horrible money sweep. :)

It was quite obvious since I pointed out I was "new to the game and I panicked", read more carefully next time... *duh*

Some time ago I ended up in a public lobby somehow. I was grinding the stealth skill on the beach and there was an AFK bounty standing on a rooftop of one of the small buildings. Right there in the open, not moving for minutes. I don't mess with other people but after a few minutes I coudln't resist.

*sigh* Here we go...

Right, I'm not gonna f*cking babysit you through this talk as it's obvious you want to argue. What I've been trying to say is that the "off the radar" + sticky bomb isn't something you see a lot. Go in a session right now and look for a bounty on the map. I can guarantee you players will chase him down in cars or helicopters. No one does ambushes or sneaky kills. Everyone has do to everything rushed as if there's a timer. It's been months since I've seen a bounty in a submarine - just teasing others to get him as it's an unconventional way to get a bounty. There's no variety in how to claim bounties now. Rinse and repeat.

But you keep avoiding one of my points in that it would be cool for R* to make "no map" servers so actual tactics (meaning "off the radar" isn't available, meaning you'll stop f*cking moaning about it) could be used. You could take an electric car to not make any noise, creep up some stairs on a rooftop and wait at a popular spot with a sniper rifle. Once a guy shows up, he could have an icon above his head meaning he's a bounty (maybe with a small number under it showing how much his head is worth).

I won't argue anymore as I can't make myself more clear than this. Of course, you see my story as a coward move (you're obviously superior than I am). But thanks for taking the time to point out things that I covered with suggestions on what R* could do to make the experience better. Hopefully the next time a thread like this pops up I can take after you and post something bad ass like being "semi-AFK" in a clothing shop and have the luck of having 3 guys in a vehicle outside the door just jerking each other off for you to walk out with a grenade with none of them realize you've moved. Of course, you don't use "off the radar" because it's a coward move. It's as if the map was the only way to see players. Crazy, right?!

I strap 5 stickies to various places on a street vehicle, then go off radar, then hunt a player down.

I pull right up next to them (no one EVER notices it's me) and detonate, suiciding in the process. Then I respawn and book it the hell outta there and are away from the area before I am back on radar. Confuses the sh*t out of some people. :)

Also, I have been experimenting with driving a car (strapped with stickies all over) directly at someone, then diving out way before and detonating the car when it gets to them. I am only about 25% efficient with that method though. Funny when it works and I wish I had a video.
