Rockstar Customer Service Instructed to Hang Up on Customers

Talk about bad customer service, but that is just something.

Our most recent investigative consumer report set forth a goal to evaluate Rockstar Games' customer service phone and email support. The company has been under fire lately resultant of hacked GTA V social accounts, whereupon users have lost access to their GTA accounts (a $60 purchase) – and their ability to play the game – and have been placed on indefinite hold for a resolution. In the case of one reader who reached-out to us, we were informed that Rockstar customer support “hung up” on the reader, an action that we viewed as inexcusable if true.

 

 

 

 

Anyone here has experienced something similar?

Apparently Rockstar did issue a statement. Who to believe :rol:

"We are aware of recent issues players have experienced when trying to contact Rockstar Support, and we take these issues extremely seriously. We have absolutely not instructed support staff to hang up on players who are reporting compromised Rockstar Games Social Club accounts. We have added a large number of new staff to help with the launch of Grand Theft Auto V on PC and in this case some of these new staff members didn’t respond appropriately. We sincerely apologize that these players didn’t receive the high quality experience they deserve, and we have taken steps to remedy this immediately."

It wasn't loading for me. It finally did. But maybe you could quote an actual relevant line? Like something that's not just "one reader got hung up on"?

 

Maybe the "Yes, we're instructed to hang up" part? You know, the relevant and damning part?

 

Not everyone can just up and read the article immediately.

No customer service is as bad as 99% literal non-existent customer service lol. That's why I prefer Origin to Steam. If only Origin wasn't just EA games.

After having worked as a customer service agent for a couple years I can say that companies' policies are just there to protect their own interests, let the customer buy another of their products if the first one doesn't work.

So, if you buy GTA V off the Rockstar Store, 90 days pass, it breaks, you want a refund - you're f*cked and the customer support is instructed to say "Thank you for calling Rockstar tech support, kthxbai" and hang up before you can say a word when they hear the word "refund"?

 

I guess i was lucky to buy it off Steam.

I think in summary the article could say "So here's one for all the comparison video making, Google hunting for rockstar employees bitching kind of people. Rockstar hung up on a gamer! Remember Hanging up on a gamer is as bad as sh*tting on them from a great height, doing their girlfriend, flipping her over for seconds and leaving before she wakes up. Let the outrage commence righteous gamers". It's close I think :p

Fortunately, Social club wasn't hacked according to Rockstar but only attempts were made to attack. I can see at their support site they are looking into the matter. I believe they simply don't want to answer to the questions when they're taking action to resolve the problems.

So, I don't see that their customer service sucks.

Rockstar is a company that used to make some very fun games over ten years ago but is now the worst videogame company in the world, right up there with the worst of them like EA. This is just a shameless new low. I`m basically just here to rant and talk about the good ol` days at this point. It`ll take a full 180` to get me back on board after this "bold, fresh, new direction" they`re undertaking.
