Stuck in the Single Player, Unable to Progress

I just finished the Fathers and Sons mission(the one where you rescue Michael's kid from the yacht hijacking) and I'm completely stuck and unable to progress further in the story. I can only play as Franklin, and every time I approach his house I lose all control except the ability to slowly walk around. No missions start, and I only regain control by walking about a block away from Franklin's house.

 

Going to Michael's house does nothing.

Can you screenshot the map? Is there any mission markers anywhere? Did you receive any texts or emails you can reply to?

Here is a screenshot of my map.

 

I have two mission markers, one for Franklin and one for Michael. But I'm stuck as Franklin, pressing left alt only brings up the recording tool. Going to Michael's house as Franklin does nothing, and going to Franklin's house brings up the bug I described above.

 

There are no messages or emails I can reply to.

You're ingame right now, right? No restarts since this began? Is autosave enabled? If so, try a restart of the game. I had a few strange hud issues as well. The other day it was stuck on the mini-uzi quick-select icon and I couldn't do or pull up anything else, had to restart, but I COULD trigger a minute men encounter (tried in case it would clear it, it even stayed for the cutscene)

I already tried saving and reloading, no change. I tried going to that stranger marker too, and it disappeared as I approached, no change.

 

Just tried the repair tool, no change.

When you go to Michael's house, are you walking up to the door/going inside?

Yes. I just managed to switch to Michael by going online and then switching from that menu. But when I load in as Michael there is no mission marker for him, only a green F at Franklin's house. When I go to Franklin's house as Michael, it tells me to switch to Franklin to start the mission.

 

Once I switch to Franklin, it's back to the same bug again.

Well, just heard back from Rockstar support and they were thoroughly useless. I'm going to reload an earlier save and hope this bug doesn't occur again.

I have the exact same problem. I completed father/son mission. You end up being Franklin as he drives Jimmy back to Michaels house. I return to Franklins house with him. I see the question mark just across the street - at the Wine store. Ive read im supposed to meet Tonya. The map says ? in green. There is nobody there.. Well aside from the usual random NPC's. But nobody I can interact with exept beating them up. So at this point: No progress with Franklin as he have ZERO missions available. Michael however.. Same story..

Ive tried starting the game all over. Ive tried reinstalling GTA.. Zip, Zilch, nada.

Your save file may be corrupt but this might help.... (it worked on people having this issues on PS3/Xbox360

 

I don't like the auto save feature and turned it off-- I use my phone to quick save when I want.

 

Using quick save-- save in a new slot.

 

After it saves--exit the game and restart it so the new save file loads up.

 

Now as either of the characters with the disappearing icon--- leave the area-- take a cab back to the marker and when prompted skip the trip--- this may force the game to reload the characters and/or mission start marker in the location.

 

I've said this a bunch of times--- do not use the autosave-- it makes you lazy--- As you play through the game-- maintain 3 save slots for your current progress-- alternate saving in those 3 slots (save in the 3rd one each time-- with sorting by time/date this will move to the top.... every 5 or 10% of game progress-- create a new save slot and allow your 3rd one to move down the list and mark your progress...

 

The purpose of this is so you do not have to completely restart your game if you encounter a bug/glitch that interferes with your ability to continue the game--- you can easily reload a save from earlier and not have to completely replay the entire game-- this is especially important if you are attempting to get 100% in the game.

I started all over.. But Ill try again and this time without any auto save and without quitting the game and see if that progresses past that.

Ok. I just did a restart from the beginning. No save. No pause. Autosave off.. Same thing.. I think I need a savegame at a point where you have the next mission available just after father/son is over.

This was posted in the Save n Play thread-- it looks (by the save file title) that the first towing mission (pulling favors) is completed....

 

 

 

Hey guys, I'm trying to unlock the next mission after Father/Son and it wants me to do the Strangers and Freaks thing but every time I go to the "?" on the map there is nothing or no one there.

Can someone unlock the next mission for me, Idk if this is a bug or if Im doing something wrong but I would like to continue with the next mission lol.

My savegame is at 5.2%

Hey guys I ran into the same problem again after loading from an earlier save. I was able to bypass it by loading into single player, then loading into my GTA online character, and then manually switching to Michael from the character selection wheel.

 

Michael's mission popped up and I was able to complete it and that solved the problem.
