How do you pet Chop or other dogs or cats in game?

Hello,

I read in the brady's GTA V guide that you can pet chop by pressing Y on xbox controller, but when I do it on pc nothing happens, I have the Y button binded to the "e" key and when I hit "e" near chop still nothing happens...Does this have to do something with the ifruit app not working with the pc version of the game, info here http://www.reddit.com/r/GrandTheftAutoV_PC/comments/32lqij/ifruit_app_doesnt_have_pc_support_yet/ ?
