new to entire GTA, couple of questions before I buy

I highly suggest you play singleplayer a decent amount before you go online. Tons of players online make it their goal to spawn kill newbies. If you get good at shooting in singleplayer you should be able to take on these players much easier. You could also enter passive mode (its like a ghost mode of some sort) to prevent PvP by opening the interaction menu (sorry, I don't know the button on PC) and selecting "Enable Passive Mode".

Play III or VC first...GTA 5 is kinda...trashy. If you do decide to jump right in either stay away from public sessions or prepare to get eaten alive. Noob hunters are everywhere. It's fun to crap on them as a low level secondary character but I imagine it's a nightmare for a true newbie.

Play some of the older GTAs first so you get what GTA is all about. If you play the older ones after jumping into GTA Online you'll think they all suck, which is far from being true

Stay in passive mode in free roam until you learn the basics. Play a lot of contact missions and survivals to level up and learn as you go.

Play online, and be sure to join a decent crew that plays free aim. Don't bother with a crew that has over 500 members, like the IGN crew, smaller crews are stronger and more loyal. You'll need there help at first.

 

Enjoy GTA, it's a great game, not quite on the same level as IV was, but still a lot of fun.

I am not baiting here Started download yesterday evening and stumbled upon my first problem.

 

Downloading at 100-150 K / Sec. Will take 6 days to download. Hmm... checked my line and downloading nvidia drivers goes fine so it must be rockstars server that is the fault.

 

Raised a ticket already, this does not start out good

day 1 player here, GTAO Never gets boring nor will it ever be, always something to do, its like a second home/job. For me at least.

 

I always look forward to playing, even if its for an hour.

I don't know about everyone else but I've made a lot of friends through GTA. Not invite to your wedding sort of friends but people you can rely on for a laugh and to get your back during a mission.

Good luck, man. Its a helluva fkn world in here no matter what system u play on. They took some damned time to get us our heists but I feel it was worth the wait. Every upgrade is free because I pay them for Shark Cards! You can do heists with me with all the same weapons and upgrades as I have once u earn some money and grind the levels I had to for the unlocks.

 

There are so many statistics in GTA it will blow your mind. It knows how many cigarettes you smoked. All kinds of stat unlocks are possible. Weapons, vehicles, clothes, tattoo and all the colors and upgrades for each. It all comes from racing, parachuting, death matching, surviving, taking bounties, hitting armored bank cars, straight up stealing, mugging, robbing, stunt jumping, golfing, answering the phone, et cetera, ad infnum item, ad astra!

idk exactly but steam is always fast, so there is a difference that's for sure.
