Hi.

So here goes. And thanks in advance for answers.

1. Is there a metric system in GTA Online?

2. I read that police helicopters can suddenly spawn in front of you when on the run. Does it break immersion too much?

3. Is the long loading timed bad enough not to play online?

4. Do you need to use the phone and spawn a helicopter or can you play more realistically not using the vehicle spawn / transport system?

5. Is it varied enough not to get boring after a couple of months playing a few hours a day?

1) No, but rarely does it make a difference.

2) No. Cops can suddenly spawn in the most annoying places, but to have them spawn within your line of sight is very rare.

3) You generally need to only load once. It's irritating but it's just once per session.

4) Helicopters spawn in a few locations around the map. Online you can spawn backup/transport choppers (they fly over to you, they don't just pop into the air.) You can't just magically spawn a helicopter in Online.

5) If you're on next-gen, PC, or have a fair few friends that don't mind doing different stuff, definitely yes. On last-gen it's really hard to find randoms to do minigames or fun things anymore, so I wouldn't bet on it.

1. I think yes, but it's irrelevant: conception of speed and distance is a mere formality in this game;

2. Yes, it's pretty common and no, it's not a game breaker. It may be annoying, but after some time you will learn the tricks how to evade cops better:

3. The most annoying thing in GTA! This and network errors are really annoying;

4. You may play on foot with a pistol, that's how you start your game. Forget about realism, it's GTA. You can only spawn purchased vehicles via phone;

5. Day one player here, since October 13. I'm still playing.

Get PC or XBOX One/ PS4 version.

Hey,

1. I believe this is tied in to the language selected in the console settings, not sure though.

2. Yes they do spawn out of nowhere, you won't see them on your screen pop up out of thin air but if you're watching the radar you'll see them there. Pretty annoying to be honest.

3. Not at all, my Internet quality is nothing to brag about and I don't have many problems. Sometimes you'll be frozen and you'll have to restart the game and loading times overall are quite slow but certainly not bad enough to not play the game.

4. If you're in free roam then no you don't have to use your phone to call in cars or helicopters, you can steal them so long as you know where to look. During missions however if you want a heli that's not part of the mission then you'll have to phone Pegasus for one.

5. A lot of people on here only do one thing, such as racing or killing other players, and they're still going strong nearly a year and a half later so considering the wealth of stuff you can do in the game, longevity and boredom shouldn't be an issue.

Ok, thanks a lot for the answers. I am on a good PC so performance should not be an issue.

I'll start download tonight.

I'm afraid GTA Online will make you hate GTA.

I'd actually recommend you to play other GTA first before jumping to GTAV and Online.

I only ever use Merryweather if I actually need a pickup from a chopper. I feel bad killing the poor pilot just to save a few minutes.

Hi.

1. Is there a metric system in GTA Online?

No

2. I read that police helicopters can suddenly spawn in front of you when on the run. Does it break immersion too much?

Sometimes and no doesn't break it.

3. Is the long loading timed bad enough not to play online?

na 3-5mins top to load into online.

4. Do you need to use the phone and spawn a helicopter or can you play more realistically not using the vehicle spawn / transport system?

I use it but you don't need it really, just an attack heli for jobs and griefers.

5. Is it varied enough not to get boring after a couple of months playing a few hours a day?

I have been playing since day 1 in 2013 and i still play daily at least 1 hour and i literally have everything super rich and I still have fun playing. Role playing helps as well like createing a story for ur avatar

Never understood the need to inject unwarranted sarcasm when someone asks some legit question when breaking into a community. Anyways...

Kiario,

1).GTAO has no functioning metric system. sh*t, it doesn't even have a functioning economy. All money is GTA money. One GTA dollar=One GTA Dollar, and be prepared to fork over alot of it.

2).Police helicopters won't spawn in front of you. Nay, for they will spawn above you, and chase you down liked an obsessed vulture waiting for the police to kill you.

3).Loading time truly depends on two things:

  • Whether or not your internet connection is stable enough to hold a game connection together.
  • Whenever Rockstar allows you to play(Their servers are so sh*t, it's impossible to play anything at times).

4).You can use the phone to order personal attack helicopters, jets, tanks, etc on the in-game websites. You can also call Pegasus to spawn the vehicle near your area. You can also ditch all of that and go completely nomad. Nothing but the gun and clothes on your back.

5).GTAO offers several activities to kill time. You can do missions, races, deathmacthes, tennis, golf, clothes shopping, heists, arm wrestling, and the ever popular free-roam shenanigans. WARNING! Only 2%(and this is not an exaggeration) of players will play these activities, while the other 98% will be blasting each other within Los Santos. Cooperative play is all but dead UNLESS you have some friends on ps4 or xbone to do activities with. Players have a shoot first, ask questions never mentality. Anything level sub 80 will be godsmacked with extreme prejudice. Either develop some killer aim, or stick to Invite only lobbies until you level up your character enough.

Plum Tomato

Just play it how you want to play it and not how people on here demand you to play it. GTA is an exaggerated projection of real life. Don't take it seriously like 99% of people on this forum and have fun.

Remember there are only a few thousand people on this forum and they all have a weird set of rules they play by or call you a kid. But there are thousands more normal people who don't know about this place and just play for fun. Please be the latter person.

Don't get sucked into these bullsh*t forums, it will ruin the fun for you.

SALO or The 120 Days Of Sodom

lol this guy is awesome. Ask questions, gets [negative] answers and yet still determined to play and immerse himself in the game. f*ck everyone who tried to sway him away from his first time purchase into a new franchise. Heck I'm buying The Witcher 3 and never played the first 2. It just seems... interesting and gory. Trying to sell my copy of Bloodborne with unused pre-order bonus voucher on amazon. No takers yet, although I am selling it for $59.82. I am said to make a $52.00 profit, or less.. I forgot how much Amazon robs takes.

some helpful words of advice

I hope you dont care about KD, thatll head straight down the crapper the instant you step in any Deathmatch or freeroam

be prepared to be killed, a lot

dont go whining here about how you got killed 24/7. You'll get the good ole "Welcome to GTA:O" like the past infinite amount of new players that have also done so

and lastly

Dude you are gonna get eaten alive

Its ok :)

I'll never complain about getting killed multiple times. If I choose to play open then I have to accept that everyone is playing the game their own way.

For me, its measured in Imperial Units. Im not sure if that's changeable.

Police Helicopters won't spawn directly in the line of sight, but sometimes they will spawn not too far ahead of you (but still out of your line of sight) that you fly into their sight range by accident.

Loading time is worth it. Tbh, I wouldn't listen to all the people saying "GTA:O is the worst gta!" I quite enjoy it, and have had more fun in GTA:O then most other GTA games.

Eh, you can go to a helipad and steal a helicopter most of the time. If theres a certain helicopter you like, however, you may want to buy it so that you can call it in whenever you'd like.

Really it depends. By yourself you can mostly stay occupied, but with friends you can definitely keep yourself occupied for that long.

If you buy it, welcome aboard, and I hope you enjoy playing the game.

Now, when you join, I recommend trying to scrap up enough money to buy a HighEnd apartment (heists), Guided Launcher, or Special Carbine. All are pretty useful.

If you sign up on rockstars social club, you get to buy a sports car for free. Its not that bad either.

And lastly, try not to get too absorbed into these forums. I know I'm gonna get bashed when I say this, but there are definitely a lot of people who don't appreciate anything good about the game and always point out the bad. For example, sometimes whenever an update comes out people don't bother to look at the fact its a free update, and instead point out everything "unrealistic" or "op" or "paytowin". That can make your experience a little less fun,

Also, want to get his strength up to help him take damage better of he was to go into open rooms.

Kiario,

If you go into open rooms you will be a target for some high ranks to grief. But it's not a bad game and it's not a good one either but it is decent and fun to play. You'll really be blown away how it looks compared to watching videos.

Lastly, you will be killed A LOT until you start getting higher in rank to unlock better weapons other than that enjoy your new purchase.
