CDR Alpha Niner
After seeing a mod for GTA4 which turned the main character into a T-800 from the Terminator series, I couldn't help but think, and hope, that an ambitious team might get together to make a full-conversion mod for GTA5 for the PC. Call it "Grand Theft Auto: Judgement Day." Turn Los Santos, and San Andreas, into a post-nuclear strike setting, with players acting as Resistance members and survivors, or gangsters preying off those left. All the major buildings knocked down and reduced to ash, streets charred with debris, abandoned vehicles, and ruins, the entire landscape just wrecked and in pieces as the war for humanity's survival rages on, with survivors living out of abandoned structures, subways, tunnels, and underground dwellings. One could replace cops with T-800s skeletons and NOOSE operatives with Cyberdyne 101 (Schwazzenegger) models, police helicopters could be replaced by aerial Skynet Hunter-Killers, and one could have gang attacks triggered as Skynet raids. Stray too long outside your protective dwelling or in the wrong spot, and you'll have a Skynet Hunter-Killer tracking you down, forcing you to call up your buddies to bail you out. Put up Skynet's central core and base in Fort Zancudo or the prison. And knock down the main highways and skyscraper towers for good measure! Unfortunately, I have no coding abilities; I simply write and generate ideas. Although, one can only hope someone can get a team and interest together. Just joting my thoughts down before I forget them. Perhaps we'll see it one day. CheatingSoi

CDR Alpha Niner
IT WOULD FAIL TO LIVE UP TO POTENTIAL I'm sure they thought the same thing about Battlefield 1942: Desert Combat, Counterstrike, and Team Fortress. skatebba
IT WOULD FAIL TO LIVE UP TO POTENTIAL I'm sure they thought the same thing about Battlefield 1942: Desert Combat, Counterstrike, and Team Fortress. those were all games that started as games. terminator is a movie, a legendary one. It has a chance to succeed, but the ratio of failed movie games to succesful ones is like 2000/1. star wars battlefront was good and riddick, cant think of anything else. and this would be a mod so you wouldnt have as good of a team working on it then you would a standalone videogame, just my opinion
CDR Alpha Niner
But these games were also mods, were they not? Counterstrike and Team Fortress were all mods of Half-Life, which became their own standalone. And Desert Combat's Trauma Studios got hired by DICE to work on Battlefield 2. We've seen some pretty impressive mods of games as of late. Like Mechwarrior: Living Legends; a full-conversion mod of Crysis that turned the game into a full-blown Mechwarrior project. I'm sure the talent is out there if the interest is significant enough to warrant its application. Why rush to judgment and deem it a failure before it even launches? Yeah, it's definitely ambitious given the scope of what's being asked, but taking it step-by-step, a good dedicated team could probably pull it off.
