How do you No-Scope with sniper rifle?

I've seen clips where the player is in third person with the heavy sniper aiming but he's not actually looking through the scope, he remains in third person view. The aiming dot is on the screen as he strafes and fires his shots. Does anyone know how to do this?

Half press the left trigger or L2.

I jumped off Mt. Chilliad and 420 YY Noscoped a level 9000 by Mirror Park, the bullet hit him in such a way his foot kicked the lone soccer ball into the goal and I heard from across the map a loud howl "GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL"

This is the first I've ever heard of this. I tried this...

Half press the left trigger or L2.

...but that didn't do what you were asking. No matter how lightly or partially I pressed L2, I was either not aiming at all (just standing there), or full scope aiming.

Half hold R2.

Ah, now THAT did it.

I must confess, now that I see it in action, I'm not entirely sure what the point is. I mean, it doesn't seem particularly useful. Am I missing something? Or is this just to look cool in videos?

In first person it's quite accurate, I was doing it in a DM.

Pfff. Forget no-scopes, just whip out your platinum minigun and spray, hoping the other guy doesn't have godmode, or a platinum minigun.

Seriously, though. use the scope like a normal person. this is GTA, not COD, if you try to no-scope, I can 99% assure you that:

-you'll miss

-the person will have fired their retaliation shot, either:

-killing you

-mortally wounding you

-scratching you (if he's not using the Heavy sniper)

Don't noscope. If you see someone going "OOOOOOOOOOH NOSCOPE!!!1!1" after getting a noscope kill from a distance it means they are just lucky idiots. All sniper rifles are accurately inaccurate when noscoping. They never hit in the middle of the reticule, instead they hit in a random spot on a perfect circle around the reticule (the angle between bullet trajectory and rifle barrel is always the same, inaccuracy increases with distance). Noscoping may be useful only on very short ranges, where the spread isn't significant. I'd reccomend learning to double claw (walking+zooming with left hand and aiming and pressing a/x to strafe faster, the same speed as aiming with RT (or just claw with left hand and use fps control scheme if you're on new gen)). Also, aim with your body movement instead of right stick to line up your shots, especially when zoomed, in picking mid-long range targets. Not sure how all this translates into fps mode in new gen or how it works on pc.

If you master strafing fast, aiming and zooming, you'll be pretty comfortable with snipers, even in short/mid range, with mininal zoom. It's not that different than aiming with pistols, actually.

Most of this is useful only in sniper only DMs. In short/mid range rifles or shotguns are obviously a better choice if you have more weapons at your disposal and want to perform well in a deathmatch.

wtf is that...that ain't gta online and you won't get the same results either. No scoping in gta o will get you killed repeatedly. It's inaccurate plain and simple.

Op most people are not quick scoping or no scoping, they are using that punk ass marksman rifle. Don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise.
