Savage Helicopter Tips?

So I recently bought the savage. It's slow moving and clunky, but it's got firepower on its side.

 

Recently all I see are people flying their Hydras or spamming homing launchers at me 24/7. What can I do to avoid getting shot down so fast by the launchers and hydras alike?

 

I like the Savage, but it's of no use to me if all I do is get shot down immediately even if i'm not attacking people.

 

Suggestions and tips would be very much appreciated.

I use mine mainly in missions... that's really where it shines, like "Los santos connection" you are a flying target with endless rocket spamming death, why wouldn't someone shoot you down in FM, do you expect people to let you just rule the skies?

Best for suprise attacks. Always get the first shot. Fly high, attack low. Use rockets against jets.

It's an okayish helo,but gets shot down way too quickly for my liking..although I can kinda understand with the rocket spammers

I don't own one but tried it many times. I found it best (like the Buzzard despite size difference) to stick to the city and keep near the skyscrapers. Once you feel comfortable with it, look for any rockets heading your way and duck behind a skyscraper. Spam rockets but use the minigun for close quarters. That's the reason I won't buy one: it's so...clunky. It's a tank but it shows in its speed and agility.

I wouldn't recommend using this helicopter if there's a jet in the lobby.

it's amazing how many people don't realize that you lose about an extra 3-5k when you blow everything up in that hanger. there's money/drugs in the green boxes by the trucks.

If you're precise you can still use a heli and get the extra money

I struggle to get more than 1 kill even in the buzzard and its a lot more nimble. your best defence is very low flying behind cover to avoid the lock in the first place or flying high where you don't render. only expose yourself just before a kill. you're screwed against jets and the buzzard.

 

or you could just abuse passive mode and off the radar to kill people then run.

This is true but if I have enough to splurge and buy a savage, or any death mobile... 3-5k is petty change. The mission alone usually pays 18-25k depending on time.

 

Also anyone that's done that mission knows the drugs are upstairs on the back right, I know when my target lock goes there I don't shoot. I get out, kill the 1 or 2 jackasses, then get back to tha choppa.

I like to use my savage on clearing the cathouse, great for cannon practice but for the lsc mission the valkeryie is the way to go, I fly it inside the hangar and clear it in seconds

Lazers/Hydras don't got sh*t on the Savage. Thry run scared once they hear that lock on.

Use it against moving vehcles, they cant stinger u fromtheir cars, use radar off against hikers, otherwise its russian roulette.
