r0llinlacs
At least textures and shadows. I'm not speaking for myself but my buddy only has 2gb and he's going over the limit. The textures don't seem to change from high to very high... well... not all of them at least, some of them look okay but others don't. Also the shadows won't load high detail unless they're 2 feet directly around the player, other than 2ft directly around the player, the shadows look even worse than normal. Both are at their "maximum" settings. Seems he's not the only one with this problem and everyone with this problem has one thing in common: They're all going over the VRAM limit. CrazyLamer
Going over the vram limit is never a great idea, just a bigger chance to ruin the gpu. Just set some stuff to normal or high and keep it under the limit, the alternative is buying a new gpu.
RedDagger
Yeah, if you go over the limit it physically can't handle the settings, and from what I've seen it likely uses lower settings anyway instead of overworking the GPU. Your friend will have to suffer with lower settings I'm afraid.
