Dying when bailing from helo...

Since when was this a thing? I have played Online since it was released, bought my first helo exactly a month after release, had that before i even had an apartment. I have bailed from helicopters COUNTLESS times, there may be a stat but i dont feel like finding it, alls i know is that i have done it so much its not even funny...

Recently though i seem to have a 50/50 chance of dying as i jump from the helo, not sure on the statistics, but it seems to happen most often when im on a mission and im the last one alive and have to bail from the helo due to damage or whatever...

I hope this is a bug and will be fixed, my guy clearly isnt jumping up into the blades there is no reason for this bullsh*t.

Yeah it's only started happening to me recently. It's like as soon as you press triangle the helicopter craps out and begins to descend as you are getting out and BAM, you get minced.

Do you seriously have to make a low quality gif for almost every post?

I've found that if you've still got R2/RT pressed as you jump out then it's less likely. If I stop and hover then it happens more often than not for me. I've also noticed that unless you immediately pull back when ejecting from a jet you can quite often hit the tail. This doesn't always kill you but it does it enough to be annoying.

I agree - I hope it's a bug.

That's weird, cause for it's the exact opposite. I have to let it hover for a few seconds before I can jump out. If I jump out as I'm holding R2 I get bladed every time.

Has anyone tried flipping the helicopter to one side?

This only happens when I have the daily objective. Otherwise I can bail whenever/however and get away scott clean. Like when my heli is being shot at by homing missiles by a level 10 for instance......

I find the way to avoid getting killed is letting off the accelerator before you jump.

Noticed this also. Happened to me 3 times in a row with the annihilator (dont know about other helos) Finally went and got a plane!

I have had this happen twice now with the Savage also. I thought it was just that chopper but may have to try it out with some of my others. Both times though I was not hit by the blades but rather the fuselage ( is that correct with a heli?) and sent spinning to my death.

DING DING DING. WE HAVE A WINNER. Well ... What do we have for him Johnny?

You won all all expense paid trip to not dying when jumping from a helicopter.

All jokes aside I probably fly more heli's than 99% of this forum. This is what you do. I've never died from the blades. Tilt right and your character jumps out left. That simple.

I only ever died once when bailing from a Savage. Other than that I've bailed fine.

I found that if you bank to the right before jumping out you'll be safe. This def changed when the heists came out.

Wtf is your problem lol he was providing an example of the topic at hand. Do you need to be a dbag about the small stuff?

OT. This has started happening to me too, but I have only noticed that it's when my help is badly damaged

You can kill passengers this way.. if you care.

Lol didn't this use to happen in gta 4

and on 5

This is new. I often bail out of heli. But since I rarely play it now, I haven't actually started to try this one.

Seems stupid though if R* actually patch it to be this way.

Don't leap out of helicopters while they're in forward motion. Stable it out and hover, and then it happens very rarely.

From the hover I pull hard back on the stick to stand the heli on it's tail just before jumping out, seems to work for me.

I've noticed this too. Back to the old GTA IV days of tilting just before jumping :D

I had this issue when trying to do the daily objective. I bailed out of choppers dozens of times on 360 and never had an issue, but on PC i kept on dying.

You can fix the issue by leaning the helicopter all the way to the right then jumping out.

This is happening pretty frequently to me too - tilting the chopper in the opposite direction while jumping does seem to solve the issue.

It's happened to me with the Frogger, Annihilator and possibly the Maverick but not sure if it's specific to those helicopters. Like others I notice it most when completing Daily Objectives but that's when I use heli's most... so I don't think it's exclusively a problem in that area.

Soran Is On

Try to even out the helicopter and then jump out

Try's to give advice... gives precisely the wrong advice.

Tilt the other way and have the passenger jump out, tilt your way and then jump out. If you care about your passenger you're probably able to communicate. If its free roam and who cares chop a bitch up but if there's high stakes you kinda wanna keep your sh*t together son.
