I'm glad to see there are a lot of people in my age group here - I'm 27, been playing GTA since I was 10, back in 1997.

41 and have been gaming since I was 7ish (Atari 2600). In fact, I whipped some young teens azz at the Donkey Kong arcade game when I was around 8. That's the first time I witnessed a rage quit. Ha ha

I got my copy of GTA IV when I was 12, that was the first GTA I myself owned, but I had played it at friends houses and such.

I'm 17 now and for PC I was finally actually supposedly old enough to play the darn game.

someone said something about the "new turn" thing, that's pretty much all I did after getting V on the ps3, just have the friends over and take turns seeing who could last longer from the cops and stuff. couch gaming is dieing, but it sure as hell isn't dead.

I'm 37...I play it about 5 times a week

EDIT: I know I'm probably right about this but I remember answering a topic like this...almost the same way that I answered this one. Like a year ago.

Same here I was 25 when I played a GTA game(vice city) for the first time.

The average age of a GTA V gamer is around 1-69. I've seen my 1 year old cousin go to the strip club. He kinda got more pussy than I did.

I cannot condone this squeakers are one thing but babies are where I draw the line. You're bragging about this? Way to corrupt a pure innocent mind. Worse are young parentsvive come across on line that play with their infant/toddler sitting in their lap

I am 24 years of age, and my 'Grand Theft Auto' tenure commenced in 2003, at which point in time my 12-year-old counterpart commandeered Tommy Vercetti for the first time. :) My recollections of playing Grand Theft Auto installments, which are so vivid to this very day, embody my adolescence. :)

I'm not defending him. but do you seriously think a 1 year old would know what's going on, let alone remember GTA?

Plus I'm pretty sure a 1 year old doesn't have the motor-skills to even play videogames yet, so he's probably joking.

There should be a separate poll ( and maybe - topic ) to find out when people joined the series with the simple options, v.i.z., 2D, 3D and HD era.

OT:

I joined with the 2D games at the age of uhm..I think around 10. For the OP, I'd further add, that looking at the GTA Online Census, I feel a lot of the new players above 16 age group are playing the latest GTA and a potential seller rapidly becoming the preferred choice for gaming especially after the game has been amazingly optimized on PC.

I think Rockstar managed to attract a lot of new players who are not strictly gamers due to busy life and, as such, this time the average age of the gamers might stretch even further than 35 and in the "adults" territory than in the case of past releases. For such a crowd, ONLINE seems to be the perfect thing to invest some quality playtime with friends than any previous GTA could ever offer in terms of content and open world variety for the best graphical fidelity.

We'll be the first generation of 70 to 90 year olds who not only get excited for new games, but play them. Arthritic thumbs (known as gamers thumb) and bad eyesight be damned!

Although when most here are 90, Apple would have invented the new eye implants, the Apple IEye. So gamers now can be safe in the knowledge they can play until death. "GTA X is made to appeal only to 40 year olds!! I've been playing GTA for 65 years now and there's not one car from the late 1980's to early 2020's! All the guns are stupid future guns and there's Jetpacks everywhere! Just like the annoying 27 year olds have! X should cater to me and me only! I payed money, I own the franchise!" Will be the thing by then.

I'm 132 and a transvestite, so that should about even things out.

The moral of the story? Age nor gender really matter. It's all about attitude and perspective.

I bet the average audience is going to get younger in the future due to the fact that Rockstar is trying hard to appeal to children.

Online will continue to grow so a lot of people of all ages will play I think. The supposed children who play online now will be adults playing it in 10 years. They grew up with online so will be less grumpy about it.

A lot of adults play online now, I heard a guy lecturing a couple of younger people on how to play games online before so the ages are quite varied. Unless the adults I hear online, pretending to be gangsters are children, just they have a pitch shift on the mic.

8-40 must be it.

19. I started playing videogames at the age of 3 on the SNES. Then between the age of 5-11 gaming was forgotton by me. When I was 11 I finally got my second console, not a console, a handheld, the PSP. My first game was GTA: VCS and holy moly! I never had soo much fun with an entertainment product. At the age of 13 I bought a PS2 and I finally got the chance to play GTA SA and that was definitely one of the best gaming experiences I ever had! You could do a lot of stuff in GTA SA and that's why I love it soo much, the atmosphere and possibilities, DAMN! A few months later I finally got to build my first PC, it had an Intel Pentium Dual-Core E-2140 @1,6Ghz, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 250GB HDD,Geforce 7900GT. GTA San Andreas ran buttery smooth! Then the mods, oh god, compared to vanila SA, the possibilites of San Andreas got tripled! I had so much freakin fun with SAMP and MTA, those were my very first Online-Multiplayer experiences and I will never forgot those moments. That definitely was the peak of my gaming experience! GTA IV came out and what a horrendous launch, god. So I decided to buy a PS3 and I didn't regret it, I had so much fun playing splitscreen games with my brother, I surely miss those times. Red Dead Redemption came out, and oh dear! The atmosphere of that game was so fricking untouchable! The wildlife, the western style, the awesome landscape, almost a prefect game. I spent hundreds of hours in singleplayer mode.#

One day I decided to buy a laptop, I deeply regret this decision, it had a i7-2670QM, GT540m 1GB, 8GB DDR3 1333mhz, 500GB 5400rpm HDD. I finally could enjoy GTA IV and had a hell of a time. As soon as newer games were coming out my laptop started to struggling, that was 1 year later. Then GTAV was announced and I've gone mad, the 1st trailer was fenomenal! And the wait for the game to get released was a pain in the arse. When I finally got the chance to play V I was little bit disappointed, it felt too cartoonish and still does. But nonetheless I pretty much still enjoy playing this game. One of the worst decisions I ever made was to buy a freaking laptop and play games on it, the GPU of the laptop that I mentioned got fried in 2013.

So then I built my second system with a AMD FX-8320, HD 7850 2GB(now I got a GTX 970), 1TB 7400rpm hdd, 8GB 1600mhz ram and it pretty much satisfied me, untill the Mobo and the CPU got fried last week.

Then I bought a PS4 and patiently waited for GTAV to get announced for PS4. Once it released I was baffled by the way it looked with the PS4's hardware which is middle class, definitely the most beautifull open world game I ever played, but no were near as atmospheric as RDR. So again I patiently waited for the PC version.

I managed to play GTAV at a very decent performance but as I mentioned before my CPU and mobo said goodbye.

I ended writting more than I actually planed lol. Definitely just mentioned a portion of my experience with gaming specially GTA. I would fill atleast 5 pages, if I told everything.

I'm 18 and the first GTA I played was San Andreas when I was in 6th grade and I didn't get a new one until I was a 10th and got IV TBOGT. Now I have V and loving it, but haven't been able to play much because of school :/ I haven't played many GTAs but I love the series :)

The first games I've played were NFS Underground, Midnight Club 2, Gran Turismo 3 and Call of Duty 2, so I guess I'm sort of a late bloomer :/
