Average GTA 5 player age group

I'm 32. First started playing GTA when I was 15. Purchased GTA1 and the London 1961 and 1969 expansion pack in 1998 for PC. It's been my favorite gaming series sense. I'll play GTA, as long as it's around, till I'm an old man.

I'd say the average age is about 30yrs old. I'm 39 BTW.

First started playing GTA a year after SA was released. I used to ridicule my friend for playing such a wannabe's game, lol. Then one day, I rolled up a fatty, put the disc in and the rest is history.

I expect a vast majority of an age group between 12 - 16 in the list of GTA V players.

The difference between the releases in 2004 and 2013 in this regard, as I see it, is that the multiplayer makes the later more appealing compared to the "single player with no DLC" experience of the former, i.e., the masterpiece; GTA SA!

Obviously, multiplayer attracts all ages with a wide range of players from kids to adults, and even further in an age group of 30 - 35 plus, from casuals to graphic whores, and from "no f*cks given to story mode but interested in multiplayer" types.

I'm 16 and have been playing GTA since I was about 5. I don't actually know anyone over 18 that play's GTA v so I would say average age range is 14-18.

You should try the classics. They are a lot of fun than the HD GTA.

29 and started when I was 12. Sometimes I can't believe I've spent over half my life as a GTA fan.

Me too. I was 16, when I got the first Grand Theft Auto game in 1997. Age rating was 16 in my country, so I guess I´m one of the few who were not too young actually when they got their first GTA game. :D

Lethal Vaccine

I just turned 26 on April 8th. I am not much into gaming, just GTA. Started with GTA III back in 2001, 14 years ago. So I was 12 years old when I started.

However, I don't play Online, I don't have a Social Club Account, I don't have the Internet turned on with my PS3. I've been doing my own thing all along. No need to follow the hordes of people doing the same old day in and day out.

And how would we know the age range if nobody is posting their age?

Plus this thread won't give a true, accurate range, since not everyone who owns V will reply. You'll get like 50 comments. Meanwhile, millions own V...

I think people of all age groups play GTA and other video games nowdays.Probably still mostly people under 30,but I wouldn´t be surprised to see someone in their 30s or 40s or even older to play video games.Video games are no longer considered just fun for kids and a taboo for adults for probably more than a decade.

I´m personally 22 right now,and I´ve been playing GTA since I was around 10,starting with GTA 2.

In all seriousness, I think that with GTA V coming there's been a lot of new, young players ranged from 13-15 which somehow are allowed by their parents to own a copy of the game. That just explained the whole GTA V section.

I`m 27, since everyone`s giving away their age. First played GTA 1 when I was around ten years old at a cousin`s house.

You should try the classics. They are a lot of fun than the HD GTA.

They're very good games. That's undeniable.

But having played some of them for 4 years solid already, a new GTA is very welcome, especially one that doesn't follow similar, if not the exact same, path as previous instalments. The III era games are all essentially the same, with different maps. That got boring after 8 years of play. IV wasn't much different from those.

V refreshed the series.

Also, Osho, please try and stay on topic, just once.

So, back to the matter at hand:

I'm 37, and I know, I often act more like I'm 12. It's fun. I think I'm the average age for a GTA fan, among the small section of us that have been playing GTA since day one - I remember rushing home with my copy of the top down classic and firing it up on my flatmate's computer. Windows 95, yo. You had to run that sh*t in dos mode. Those were days. We played it for something like 18 hours straight. We finished the game that day, earning all of our money by selling cars and running people over. We then played it again, taking turns on missions. You didn't even need to do missions to win the game. That's the birth of openworld right there.

I doubt there are many around here these days that are old enough to have been there at the beginning.

I like the second part of your post because it reminded me of how my friends and I would play, taking turns. Especially with GTA III. I however don`t wish for the series to have ever changed or taken any "new turns." It was the best thing in my young life back then and the only way I wanted the new games to be was bigger and better. Not "fresher" and "taking different turns," or any of that crap. That`s like saying that you love America yet voting for the Democraps.

Is that not part of the bigger problem? That you have such cherished memories and have become precious about those experiences? That any actual innovation in the series now is a change for the worse because you don't want change, not a step forward into new iterations of the game?

Those experiences are all still there, you can replay those games and have the experiences again.

It seems to me that the big issue is that people want the old games with better graphics. They don't want anything new or different, but they want GTA on modern hardware. It would be detrimental to the series if it didn't change. If IV hadn't been that slight bit different to SA, I would have given up on GTA. Games need to change, or they become boring. That's what's happening with Assassin's Creed - original game was great, second game was excellent, then they just remade the same game over and over again in different locations. That's so dull. I've abandoned AC for that exact reason - until it can change sufficiently to pique my interest again, I might as well just play AC2 over and over.

Embrace change. Step forward into the brave new world. Don't let your nostalgia hold you back.

One generation always has problems with the next. "Kids these days! They don't know the majesty of GTA 2! We didn't care about graphics we cared about sonic! Now you little bastards don't even know who sonic is! Doom beats anything on sh*tty new consoles! 10 minute loading screens are something you should enjoy! We were much better children than you!" Kind of thing is all over the Internet. I think that says GTA gamers are mostly 30+.

If the hatred of anyone under the age of 18 is as real as it seems on here, start annoying them. Park in front of a store door and lock them in, let them get in your car and blow up both yourself and them, then rejoice in the "WHAT THE FUUUUUUCCCKKKK BRRUUHHHH!!!!" You'll hear on the mic. Be a complete prick and call the kid names, mention his mum maybe, be less mature than the child you're verbally abusing. It's what some adults do online :p

That`s how I too feel about AC, I`ve stopped playing those games but GTA was the kind of franchise that was always adding on top of what it had, not subtracting features. Like in AC, one time you`re an Indian with all the Indian trinkets etc. and then in the next one you`re a pirate and you get all the piratey gizmos and ships and whatnot and then you`re a Roman something or other but each time it`s just a different dressing with pretty much the same gameplay and what was new the last time is removed in favor of something new this time. That`s what doesn`t work about AC, they need to build on what they have infinitely and not throw anything that works out the window. The reason GTA`s been awesome in the past, reaching its peak with SA was because up until that point the series just kept accumulating gameplay elements and it looked like by the time we`re at GTA V we`d be able to go to an engineering school in-game to get a degree, design an in-game spaceship and blast off to the moon, building a moon base and a civilization there, then solving the lack of air and the gravity problem with the leading team of in-game scientists to make the gravity and the atmosphere optimal for running people over in your open top Sentinel. Instead of moving in that revolutionary, maximum freedom approach we now have yoga and the Online and screw all the previously introduced features like... too many to list, just too many to list. But at least we`ll have 12+K graphics and yoga lite, yoga extreme and yoga XS, isn`t that fun!

If the hatred of anyone under the age of 18 is as real as it seems on here
You kiddies have no idea about the potential of these games nor their history. Hell, you`re not even old enough to play legally yet Rockstar seem to be catering to you on a silver platter! Edited by lastmanonearth

I'm 14 and honestly, whatever I do, I'm wrong. :p

If I tell you I'm mature for my age, people think of me like some kind of spoiled "special snowflake" who feels more mature and better than others for listening to old music, playing games "the right way".

If I don't, well, I don't make a point. Honestly, the only thing people my age can do is keep their mouths shut. Anything we do will be used against us, so f*ck this and just play. Most of the adults don't care about our age anyway when we behave like adults ourselves.
