Is there any reason to buy a plane instead of just stealing one? Seems like a waste of money...

Planes don't spawn during missions, although I can't think of a mission where you need one.

 

I operate under the theory that eventually I'll buy everything but planes are low priority.

Pretty much a waste of time unless you particularly like a certain aircraft. However, a Besra/Vestra would be useful for getting to places fast (think for special crates). I own a lot of aircraft, but they are mostly more rare ones such as the Duster and Cuban.

I have the Vestra too, as well as the Hydra (lol Besra), Savage, Buzzard. However, if you want a Special Crate, you'll want to take a helicopter. Planes you'd have to jump out of and let enemies shoot you on the parachute down, whereas with a helicopter you could just go into Passive Mode, land, get out and collect crate then leave.

I bought a vestra in the days of special crates. But when they stopped happening I rarely use it.

 

I was going to buy a buzzard but I just call and kill a merriweather chopper/pilot now.

 

I have 3.6 M in the bank and don't even know if I'll get any of the new aircraft.

 

Rockstar shouldn't have had aircraft spawns everywhere, no-one needs to buy any aircraft anymore.

i said it before i'll say it again, buying planes is more of a "i have too much money" thing, in reality its pointless. You can just steal jets /titans/ cargos for 5k (blind eye for fort Z).

The answer is simple.

 

If you have 25 million dollars buying a plane to screw around with can be fun.

 

If you have 5 million or less the money can be better spent elsewhere

Because its a nice to fly every-now-and-again. I own a Vestra, Cuban-800, 5 seater velium and hydra. Nice thing to mess around with my mates with. Well, was, no-one else had moved to PC with me.

I use mine to buy my cars at 35,000 feet.

No real reason to buy a plane to be honest. It is just something you can spend cash on.

 

Planes spawn easy enough on freeroam should you need one. In missions they won't but planes aren't really useful in those anyway.

 

I'd buy a buzzard heli before any plane. Way more useful. But I do own a couple of planes (Miljet, Besra and Dodo). I just use them if I fancy a bit of fun flying around in something other than the spawn planes. Other than that they aren't my most useful vehicles.

i own all pegasus vehicles and only use like 5 of them on a regular basis.

If you like flying around then there is a reason to buy a certain plane you like.

I only have the Dodo which is slow,fun and can land everywhere in the map (land and sea that is).

You can't steal a Besra, Hydra or a Dodo and those are the most fun planes in the game. Some of you don't like having fun though.

No reason. It spawns in Free Mode.

If with 2 the vestra is worth it

The 2 purchasable jets are even more worth it

The besra earned me a lot of special crate drops

.. yeah and make sure you don't buy a Hydra or you'll get put into bad sports lobby if you try and kill people. You can use that 3 mil piece of metal to fly around the clouds and think about life instead.
