oh god what happened to my game........wtf

(steam version) I was playing single player just fine than started playin online with my wife, next day tried single player again and it crashes on loading into game. Ok so I spent hours trying to see what the hell is going on. My save loads in safe mode alright. So messed with settings and cant get it to stop freezing at load screen in normal mode. It gets weirder.......I can play online from steam shortcut but when I quit my session It goes straight to my single player game autosave. So im like alright let me load my saved game from here so its loading, than it goes to my online session? wtf is this? So quit session again it goes back to my auto saved single player. alright so let me start new game....loading it goes back to online session. It still freezes on load when I just start single player. deleted saved games and still freezes, validated steam integrity file blah blah blah. I do get a flash of driver stopped working and even err_gfx_d3d_init error once. Have latest drivers did full uninstall of drivers again and again. Why can I play my saved game only by going the online route?
