The Jackal 4563
Let us say that two crews are having a free-aim TDM against each other, AR's only. Red team prefers to use third person, and blue team prefers first person. For fairness' sake, would either team have an advantage over the other, or are the differences in perspective negligible? Discussion on this is greatly appreciated, as I am curious to what the community thinks on the matter.
xGovernor
i've always believed 1st person has had an advantage over 3rd, in 1st person you can move alot faster also you dont have to hold a when shooting to run n gun. Also 1st person seems to take more damage and be alot more accurate.. i hate 1st person, i always set it to 3rd person in tdm but the one advantage 3rd person has is the camera... The Jackal 4563
So is it safe to say thus far that both third and first person have their shares of pros and cons?
Señor_Fisto
3rd person is king due to ability to see over cover and around corners without exposing yourself to getting shot. Especially in this game, because for some reason taking cover in first person mode isn't as safe as third person also the aiming in first person with true free aim (no partial assistance) is pretty bad
TheGoodSgtScooter
Third. Corner shooting FTW.
The Jackal 4563
Good to see some comments thus far. Anyone want to side with first person being better? Their opinions are wanted as well.
Simply Logic
3rd person under foot view because that all rockstar will limit us too for this game.
SRTTURBO4
I'm not saying either is superior to the other but I prefer 1st person especially when driving. To me, it makes the game more immersive, like I'm really there. The only caveat is I use 3rd person when in cover. It's like the best of both worlds. The Jackal 4563
Alright I'm liking this so far, great input everyone. Now another question in this regard. Would locking the perspective in the lobby of a TDM (either 1st or 3rd person) be intrinsically unfair because someone is bound to prefer the perspective not locked, thus putting that player at a disadvantage, on top of the pros and cons already associated with said preferred perspective? Señor_Fisto
locked camera perspective would leave everyone on an even playing field I assume you mean something like some people not wholly familiar with the camera mode or all it's abilities (like many people aren't used to using the third person camera angle to see past cover), but that's really their problem at that point
xGovernor
keep it locked on 3rd person, most players RB anyway and wait for you to come, i dont bother doing any 1st person locked tdm. So if any one doesnt like the settings its simple, they'll leave.
The Jackal 4563
Indeed I don't see the need ever to lock a TDM first person. Frankly I haven't noticed anything different if I don't lock it at all. Thoughts on just leaving the perspective open for a TDM? Everyone can use what they want or prefer in regards to perspective. SRTTURBO4
I always leave it unlocked for one very important reason: I want to beat them fairly. If I force them into a perspective they aren't used to, then they won't come at me with their full skill. I want them to fight me comfortably, not put at a disadvantage. I want to win fairly. Its the only way to know you're better. =)
Soran Is On
I don't play third person so if I join a DM that's locked to third I quit. I'm to used to my acceleration and dead zone settings that third person is totally wonky for me now. I don't see an advantage one way or another so there's no reason to lock it.
