why popular content might have been scrapped in favor of the Online

I was reading a thread about why the Online is as dull as a bag of rocks and I was gonna mention how there should be gang wars, and then it hit me that gang wars would only work in the single player because each player would have different progress in terms of which territories they control. That`s gotta be the reason why the territory wars weren`t in V, even though they were universally liked in SA. It got me to think, what other features do you think were dropped because having them in SP would interfere with the way the Online works? Obviously gambling as well since they don`t want you to multiply your Online money, that`s what the shark card scams are for. That`s just my two cents. The reason other features from SA aren`t there like eating/gyms/dancing etc. etc. Is just because they ran out of time/money/resources and the Online ate up too much memory, but the territory wars and gambling were surely left out because they couldn`t work in tandem with the Online. Basically they bent over backwards for the Online. I can imagine the Housers talking back in 2009:

"You know, online gaming is the way of the future! Let`s call the next game GTA Online.

- Nah, our data shows that the title GTA V would sell better.

- Fine, GTA... "V" then! *wink wink*"

Animals immediately discredits your theory.

Also, gang wars were far from universally liked.

Then there's the stock market. Jumbo jet would be fun to fly in Online. Having any semblance of a story whatsoever would probably also be a cool thing. Hell, having a voice at all, even a single line, would be a welcome change.

Plus probably a ton more SP has that Online doesn't, but DAE Online, right guys!?

Can't forget about Online having less interiors than SP as well.

It's pretty straightforward.

Also edits.

AKA your argument that stuff isn't in SP because it doesn't/wouldn't work Online is stupid.

Besides, there's more stuff that's closer to gang/drug wars in Online than there is in SP anyway.

of course some SP content was not made because MP content was instead made :p

but MP is also highly successful and very popular, so there's a fine balance...

on one hand, GTA V doesn't have as good free roam content as GTA SA, likely because of GTAO...

but on other hand, GTAO is much more popular than GTA SA... more people have played GTAO than GTA SA, and I would wager the average hours per person for GTAO is also higher... some people play GTAO exponentially more than we could ever play GTA SA (or most any SP game)

so, sure, it sucks for people that only like SP

but it could be a good trade-off for people that like and prefer to have both SP and MP

the good thing is, not that Rockstar has a GTAO framework, less SP content likely has to be scrapped in the future... adding GTA VI's map to GTAO, for example, will be much easier than creating GTAO from the ground up, so in theory that should mean more resources/ for GTA VI's SP content

^^Your post is just a jumble of nonsensical gibberish that has very little to do with addressing my legitimate hypotheses.

Yes but like I said territory wars and gambling wouldn`t work since they conflict with the MP`s design. Other stuff might be added like demolition derbies but not those two things.

I'm listing things that go against your "hypothesis" (LOL)

It's dumb. That's all there is to it.

EDIT: Putting this away right now:

There's plenty of things in SP right now that's not in Online. That immediately discredits your "hypothesis".

For your theory to even make sense, everything in SP would have to work in/with Online.

and then it hit me that gang wars would only work in the single player because each player would have different progress in terms of which territories they control. That`s gotta be the reason why the territory wars weren`t in V

Why would they not just put it in SP only? There's plenty of things in SP that's not in Online. The only logical way your words could work is if it was 1:1. Which it's not. So that's the end of that.

But to address your 2nd point:

Obviously gambling as well since they don`t want you to multiply your Online money

Hey, buddy...The Stock Market is gambling. Gambling isn't exclusively casinos and roulette tables. And guess what? It's also SP only.

lots of SP stuff doesn't work with MP tho and they still added it

and there's lots of ways they could make it work with MP... if they actually wanted to. lots of MMOs have solutions for these issues that would fit with GTAO

it's just a question if Rockstar has the resources and interest in trying to do it :p

I didn't really like the gnag wars in SA. Also, your argument is as thin as wet paper. Animals, hunting, stocks, special ability, the list goes on.

Also, shark cards aren't a "scam", you get what you pay for. Fake money.

I do feel they definitely scrapped or postponed and delayed for long time deliberately to DLC a lot of "good content" in favor of ONLINE.

Its the first SP title of the series that comes to a complete stop after you're done with everything that the game has to offer. Not a single content/activity that allows the player to continue with more challenging, random missions like performing a vigilante task, available unlimited - anywhere, and any time.

The feeling 'V SP' has evoked from me every time after finishing the game was dissatisfaction, boredom, and that constant - "maybe I should simply play GTA SA again for all the single-player goodness"

Single-player in V is just painfully sh*t, with nothing that stands out. Not even PC version did much to improve the disappointments with the SP.

Waste of 5 years, imo! Doesn't give me much hope for the series.

I must admit, I'm a bit skeptical myself. I never thought that I would ever have to worry about a GTA game not being fun but I am definitely thinking about it at this point.

Gang wars in San Andreas: The worst bit of San Andreas.

Gang wars in TBOGT: The worst bit of TBOGT.

I'm glad they removed that drek.

It`s clear as day that you`re trying to libel other games by attacking their features to falsely elevate your precious V, because V has no features of which to speak. Take the Online out and V by itself is bare nakked.

Considering that we know the GTA Online that we got was created 6-8 months before GTA V released...

No, online didn't effect single player the way you think.

Gang wars in TBOGT is the reason of why said game has more replay value than V after finishing the story (Same with TLAD).

I personally put more than 600 hours into them just because of this single feature.

I think territory wars were left out because we've moved on from gang wars. With GTA trying to match real life scenarios, it wouldn't make sense for the Ballas and Grove to still be feuding, if they had included more gang-related aspects we'd all be moaning that this was just "San Andreas 2". Gangs was SA's theme.

I agree however that things like the casino were scrapped in favour of online, R* hasn't found a way to utilise this without it being one giant exploit in online. But as far as things like lack of interiors, bog standard activities with no imagination (target vehicle, NPC bounty etc.) , I think its just lazyness and stupidity if anything.

Also this

Overall I think the sh*tty single player etc. is just down to a lack of imagination.

Instead of R* using the tools of previous GTAs to set up the free roam to cause genuine random events, we got "Random Events". Which are kind of ironic, considering they're programmed and scripted to happen which makes them anything but random. Remember on GTA IV and previously when you'd be playing and hilarious things would just happen by chance, there's none of this in V.

Gang wars were good in TLaD and TBoGT cause you could just ignore them and come back whenever you please. Not be constantly harassed by it like in SA.

You guys who jump at every opportunity to vigorously defend V to death, it`ll come to bite you in the ass when the next game is even lousier with an even more useless map and fewer things to do. Although being the delusional dolts that you are you`ll probably fool yourselves even then that GTA VI is the best GTA of all time, and then you`ll say that V sucks when someone dares to say that V had more content or a better map.

Honestly, is it so bad that we bring our grievances to light, so that Rockstar may listen? NO!!! YOU SHALL NOT SPEAKETH ILL OF THE ALL MIGHTY ONLINE I MEAN GTA V!!!! EVERY OTHER GAME IN EXISTENCE OR THE FUTURE SUCKS BALLS FOR ALL ETERNITY COMPARED TO GTA ONLINE I MEAN GTA V!!!

I find it funny when people say "I love GTA V" but they actually mean Online. They seem to consider them as one.

The other day at some forums a guy was repeatedly saying "GTA V is the best in the series, I just can't get enough of this game". So I asked him why V was his favourite. His reply: "Man, what a question! I always play in full lobbies!".
