Aikor
Excuse my english first of all,it might be bad because english is not my 1st language So yea iv been playing with my brothers computer which has this setup FX 8350 4.0GHZ MSI R9 290X 8GB RAM Win7 64bit Now i had to really go through hard testing and changing settings for best quality and performance and finally i recieved 60FPS+ most of the times and 50-60FPS with this setting while driving at high speed..which im gonna tell now.50-60FPS is not really noticeable so its cool Now i have seen some people complaining low FPS with the same CPU and card i have(or a little high or lower than my card) so i am gonna tell you how to reach 50-60FPS Before we start 1.Make sure u have the latest AMD beta driver for GTA V installed 2.Make sure EVERY useless process and background tasks are closed including browser, skype, messenger or any media player as this can use some of the CPU juice 3.Sometimes UNPARKING the cores can really boost performance in some games,in this case this CPU my brother uses is unparked. So give this a try..u can also revert back if ur unhappy with the results.. Now u can launch the game.. This is my settings(NOT in order lol) Anti Aliasing: Only FXAA(MSAA off) Texture Quality: Very high Shader Quality: High Shadow Quality: Normal(For me changing shadows have a huge difference in performance) Reflection Quality: High Water Quality: High Particles Quality: High Grass Quality: Normal(This have a huge impact in performance too) Soft Shadow options: Softer Post FX: High Anistropic filtering: 16x Depth of field: Off(Didnt really test this) Ambient occulsion: High Advanced Graphics: All off Now this is what affects the CPU the most..if u want the best performance..use this settings which worked for me atleast Population Density: 45% Population Variety: 50% Distance Scaling: 50% Advanced Graphics all off instead of streaming while flying Give this settings a try and let me know if it works for u Edited April 20, 2015 by Aikor
r0llinlacs
Uhh not sure why you can't max it out but I have the same setup except FX8320 @4.6ghz and I have mine completely maxed out ultra + advanced settings and get 30fps solid at 3840x2160. 1080p maxed is child's play for this setup so you must have a problem somewhere. Strange thing, but... I noticed my 290 (not x) runs the game better at 4k30fps than it does at 1080p60fps with the same settings otherwise. r0llinlacs
I've noticed throughout time that newer and better graphics cards seem to have harder times running smaller resolutions than larger ones. Not sure why. Must be more optimized for large resolutions or something.
JowDaRapper
there's something strange going on. I have the same cpu, but a much weaker nvidia gtx 570. I have everything on high, fxaa, and also long shadows on. I get most of the time ~ 50 fps.
Aikor
I dont have a 4K monitor but yes Its more likely optimized for high resolution I can max it out yes btw but at certain places with more grass the performance tend to drop to 45-50s so i set most of the settings to high Other settings like ambient occlusion,i rly didnt see any difference between high and ultra so i put it to high to avoid even 1FPS loss
