GTA V Playable on Old Low End PC

My PC:

Core i3 540 @ 3.06GHz

Nvidia GT 240 512Mb GDDR3

4Gb DDR3 RAM

Runs quite well, never drops below 28 fps, but when i start driving fast, HDD usage goes to 100% and game starts stuttering/freezing.

If i just walk or drive slowly, i can keep playing for a long time without stuttering. Really weird.

Same...

At first i was very surprised how well game runs on my i3-3110 nvidia 640m 2gb and 4gb of ram. I can get over 40fps and sometimes it drops below 30.

And then there is this a**hole called stutter at 100% of hdd usage..

thats a laptop no?

i have an i7-3632QM 2.2ghz turbo boost up to 3.2

NVIDIA 710M 2GB

16GB RAM

and i'm not able at all to run the game, not even on the lowest settings. ( 30 fps on lowest graphics 6 fps if i just put the resolution to 1920x1440 and keep all settings in low ^^ )

Yes, this is laptop. To be honest, it runs better than GTA IV without shadows.

I believe that your pc is slow because you have programs or stuff that slows it down:)

PS: i still have a hope to see that guy who will show up to give solution to problems like mine (and thousands of others)

Hello!

I just discovered that you can minimize lag and the awful slow texture loading/texture pop in/invisible textures problem by doing these:

1. Enable the Depth of Field (DoF) by accessing the settings.xml in Documents>Rockstar Games>GTA V, If not available in-game.

2. While playing the game, bring up task manager,

Windows 7: then go to processes, right click on GTA V>Change priority to "High"

Windows 8.1: Right click on GTA V, go to details, then again right click on GTA V from the list, set priority to "high"

3. You may or may not do this step, but this minimized the errors in my case:

I downgraded the GTA V all the way from the latest version( 350.2) to the release version( 323.1) and Till now I am getting less errors, textures are loading faster with the release version. (I guessed Rockstar makes patches to fix things up! :panic: )

4. Close all unnecessary background processes.

5. If you have a low end PC like mine, don't try to get a huge FPS, that will slow down texture loading. In the in-game settings, in Graphics, Try keeping the Vsync to "half". This locks the Maximum frame rate to half of your monitor's refresh rate.

6. A lot of people suggests to play the game in windowed mode, but I don't recommend that. It's better fullscreen.

7. If you get mouse lags, in the in game settings, in Keyboard and Mouse, change the input from Raw to DirectInput.

8. Wait for Rockstar to release another patch and that It genuinely does FIX up stuff.

Note that These Tips cannot completely do away with the slow texture loading/texture pop in/invisible textures problem/Buildings and Roads appear and disappear problem. These are just to ensure that the textures and objects loads faster than before. So if anyone of you are getting this problem, you can try these out but I can't guarantee that you will completely do away with the issues.

For some reason, this game hates Dual Core CPUs. Usage goes to 100% which causes the texture loading problems and buildings and roads load slow and appear from nowhere. A good 4 core CPU (3rd generation i5 or better) is good, till A proper fix comes from Rockstar, which is very unlikely!!

If anyone gets a proper fix to the slow texture loading/texture pop in/invisible textures problem/Buildings and Roads appear and disappear problem, please post and help! :rol:

My processor is a I3 2130 3.4 ghz and CPU usage don't pass 60%,i play in 1680x1050 with rest of options on low as possible. Also i have 6 gb of ram and a gtx 550ti.

Do you get the invisible roads and buildings problem while driving fast over long distances?

If you have a low CPU or a DUAL CORE CPU, from all my knowledge, I can tell that all advices over the net to fix GTA V texture loading/Invisible roads and stuff/pop in problem, are only PARTIALLY effective, and the Problem may be reduced, but still stays.

For people like me who suffer this awful issue, I am telling that there is only one PROPER FIX t this problem, that COMPLETELY eliminates the texture issues, even while driving for a long time! the only fully effective solution is that, just Install WINDOWS 7!!

After getting huge texture load issues, and after trying over dozens of useless advices on the internet, I Installed back windows 7, now the texture problem is COMPLETELY gone, even on my Old Pentium D dual core CPU. Windows 8 suuuucks! This is the second time that I am having to install windows 7 over windows 8 and 8.1!! Use Windows 7, run the game, no more texture popping and hopping, continue robbing!!!

you know who really gives a f*ck if you spent your time making the game run on garbage.... good for you now go play it on a real computer (and if you say you cant afford one you just wasted $60 towards it) or a console.

Dude, if you said this to me, I didn't spend a penny, win7 was there with me for a long time. And if you spend your time on the internet, you will see that a lot of people have a "garbage" I wouldn't create this thread if everyone had good specs. I am just trying to help people out. If you have anything with that I can't help. Not everyone can afford a "non garbage" PC.

I get little fps drops sometimes and stuttering while driving, but doesn't happen when walking. I have no texture pop in issues or something. Can anyone tell me how to stop the stutter? The game shows good fps but stutters while driving, fps doesn't fall though... Any suggestions? Also, how will I keep the vsync?

My specs :

Processor i3 3217u 1.8Ghz

RAM 4GB DDR3

Video GeForce 740M 2GB

500GB HDD.

I dezactivated shadows from "settings.xml"(documents) and now is lil' better, but still have low fps and can't play while driving. While I'm on foot or stationary with a car, fps is perfect for playing. I was thinking to get 2GB ram in plus, because I think will help(my ram is going to 100%).

I saw on YT same specs on another laptop and was going perfectly. I can't understand.

Not everyone can afford to buy high end computer parts, keep in mind that India isn't America where we got computer parts at a cheap price.

The OP at least is putting an effort to help the least fortunate ones who want to enjoy the game as well, but what about you, what are you doing?

I don't know if my laptop is considered low end, I don't get the best of results from Can You Run It for GTA V but it runs fine on normal settings with most of the other options on. No lag, no frame rate drops or anything.

Specs:

i7-4510u @2.0GHz w/ turbo boost to 3.1Ghz

Nvidia 820m with 1gb Vram

8gb ram

1t HDD space

I can't trust those sites anymore, most of the time if not all of the time it tells me I can't run it yet it runs fine when I try the game.

Technology can be really expensive in some parts of the world you know? Not everybody can afford such technology to play GTA V on a stable 60 FPS.

Edit: just figured out that someone said the same thing a couple posts above.

I simply love how OP suggests overclocking for his 210. Helped me a ton back when I tried running IV on my 210, overclocked to 650 MHz CC. 18-30 FPS lowest settings with shadows ENABLED. Thank god I've got a 210 with a fan.

This is going to be a loo-ooong shot but does anyone think I can run at least 20 fps at medium with my rig?

CPU: Intel Core i5-430m 2.26GHz

GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470

RAM: 4GB

With maybe a bit of overclocking will I have a decent chance of running the game?

TBH I don't know why I'm even trying lol. I can't even run GTA IV on 30+ fps without decreasing resolution.

Just a question about my pc,

I have a Pentium G3258

Gigabyte R9 270 2gb OC'ed edition

8gigs of ram

I can run it at 30-40 fps on medium settings and I am wondering if I could play it at high settings at a stable 60 fps if I upgraded my cpu to an i5-4590

Thanks

I played GTA V on ps3. I have also played it on my friends rig; E8400, HD 5770 1GB, 8 GB DDR2. Though this rig can maintain a stable frame rate and game is highly playable, it doesn't look good, ps3 looked better IMO. Settings on lowest possible in-game, not fiddled with the settings.xml file itself.

I don't know if you can use that info for anything.. My guess is, the specs listed above will show this game off better than ps3, due to the strong i7 CPU and the somewhat stronger GPU. Settings on high/medium mix.

Umm, 5770 = 6770. It's just a rebrand with 6770 having UVD 3.0 and HDMI 1.4.

Hello, my pc spec is : CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 640 (quad-core) 3Ghz

RAM: 4Gb

GPU: Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT

OS: Win 7 64bit

I know, this isn't the best pc that you ever seen but i think it's good enough to play GTA 5 at low graphics, smoothly, but when i drive a car i can't even see whats happening because of lagg. I tried everything but nothing changed. Can you suggest me something? (Except buying a new pc :D )

My rig is even crappier than yours, so if I can run it smooth with full resolution (1366x768) with FXAA on, you can also do it. Try turning off vsync in game, set directx to 10 and not 10.1 and lower all settings as much as possible, but I would advice that you keep your resolution the same as your monitor's native resolution. Please post your results here after you play the game, along with your notable settings so that people can see how's the game running on different specs!

Yeah so, I installed GTA V on my old Asus K53z , AMD A70M Chipset 1900mhz overclocked to 2300mhz, 8gb ram, 256 SSD, AMD Radeon® HD 6480G Built-in A4-3300M

AMD Radeon® HD 6520G Built-in A6-3400M with 512 shared vid mem, 1024x768p.( 1366x768 native). The game runs at 14-18 fps with no real washout of textures and minimal stutters. I posted a video on youtube of only like 20 seconds gameplay but I will put another later. I must say that though the game is not that fast it is playable. Although when I get on my rigged laptop with an i7 @2.3ghz with 8gb ram and an Nvidia gtx 850m 4gb vram it sure is a different game playing with high quality textures and 1080p hitting about 48-50 fps. I am impressed that the game can play on such low end devices. I mean every GTA PC game I ever got since GTA III I either needed to suddenly buy more ram or a new video card or some software or driver that wasn't available yet. This is the first time I have installed a GTA game and it played without a hitch. Go R* You guys impressed the Hell out of me!

Here is my old Asus k53z in action.
