Sayak96
Hello! My PC is really old and low spec: CPU: Intel Pentium D 925( 3.0 GHz, 2 cores) GPU: Nvidia Geforce 210 RAM: 4GB DDR3 Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar blue, 160 GB Even in this crap PC, GTA V runs on medium settings on a playable framerate. I am assuming that you have GTA V PC installed. The steps I applied: 1. Download and install Latest drivers from Nvidia( 341.44 as of now). 2. Change the directx to 10, not 10.1 or 11. Keep every other setting on lowest possible( some settings don't go below medium, so keep them medium) If the pause menu crashes the game, follow these steps from another post of mine: http://gtaforums.com/topic/787227-gta-v-pc-pause-error-fix-err-gfx-d3d-init/ 3. Download and install the GTA V title update 1.01 patch. This fixes many errors and greatly improves fps: http://patches.rockstargames.com/prod/gtav/Launcher_EFIGS/GTA_V_Bootstrap_1_0_0_1.exe 4. (OPTIONAL DO THIS STEP AT YOUR OWN RISK. I WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF YOU DAMAGE YOUR GRAPHICS CARD): I have also Overclocked my GPU because it is too old. If you have decent coolers and fans in your Cabinet or Graphics card, and you are sure that the card inside is clean and dust free, then only Overclock: Download a tool called MSI AfterBurner. Google it out, it's available for free from MSI. I have Geforce 210 GPU, and in AfterBurner, I increased the Core speed from 589MHz to 705MHz and Memory speed from 600MHz to 624MHz. This overclocking increases some framerate but after you apply the settings, watch out for the temperature, see that it should be below 60 degree Celsius after playing the game. 5. Download a free tool called CCleaner and clean up your System drive and registry. You are good to go now! Doing the above steps increased GTA V's performance on my old PC, so it should work out. I am giving a screenshot below that I took as I was running benchmark: P.S: I am aware of the fact that my PC is old and crap! I am trying to help people with such low end Systems to run the game smoothly with no lag, after doing it myself. Please don't complain about my old low end PC, I will buy a new one next month. Revell
Thanks for the advice. Do you know if I can run it on my laptop ? Windows 7 SP1 64-bit AMD A6-3410MX APU Llano (Quad Core) Radeon 6520g HD Graphics 1.60 GHz 6.00GB Will I be able to run on the lowest settings? I have been surprised at how many recent games I've been able to run with a stable framerate so I was wondering if my specs will manage to run V? Sayak96
I forgot to mention, go to the GTA V folder, right click on GTAVLauncher.exe, check Run as Administrator and apply. Do the same with GTA5.exe Kool Guy5678
Sayak96
What about AMD drivers? Is this confirmed to only work with Nvidia? GTA V will also work with AMD devices, but since I haven't used an AMD GPU, I don't know how well it runs on which AMD GPU. You can see the minimum and recommended AMD GPUs for this game on the internet. Thanks for the advice. Do you know if I can run it on my laptop ? I have been surprised at how many recent games I've been able to run with a stable framerate so I was wondering if my specs will manage to run V? I am not sure whether it will properly run or not, you can try that out and post your result here for people having similar machines like yours. felipe32145
i have an painful low end pc, it runs at 12-30 fps, while not driving, driving is very hard to me because it drops the fps and starts freezing alot. But i'm kinda of surprised of how the geforce 8400 gs run the game quite well. Edited April 21, 2015 by felipe32145

Sayak96
I have seen one more thing that may increase performance and fix frequent fps drops.( This tweak is only for Nvidia graphics cards) 1. Go to the Nvidia control panel, and under Manage 3d settings, turn ON triple buffering and Vsync for GTA5.exe. Apply and exit. 2. Run GTA V, and in the in-game settings, turn off the vsync and apply. Now after playing for a minute or two, if you previously experienced sudden fps drops and freezes, doing this will fixed them. These worked with me, so I hope that anyone of you with this fps stutter and hiccups can try this out!

Your CPU is damn old and your GPU isn't helping either! I am sorry but I don't think that in any way you can get a playable fps on such machine. Anyways, you can try lowering all graphics settings and try disabling the shadows. To disable shadows, go to Documents/Rockstar Games/GTA V/ then open settings.XML with notepad. find the line containing Shadowquality and change the number within quotes from 1 to 0, then save the file and exit notepad. Kill all background processes from taskmanager that you can, and Launch GTA V and see. It should improve the performance. Post your result here after applying the above tweak. ERBBS
to be fair that an old rig can play at 20fps and yet even modern spec pc's play around the 40 fps so fair do's that its running at all
Sayak96
Hello Again! I overclocked my geforce 210 1 GB card to the following settings: Core clock: 705 MHz; Shader clock: 1700MHz; Memory clock: 620MHz. Then In Nvidia control panel, for GTA V, I turned ON Triple Buffering and Vsync. I cleared my RAM using a free tool called "cleanmem" and closed a few background processes using Taskmanager, and defragmented the drive containing GTA V. Then I launched GTA V, and in the in-game Graphics settings, I turned ON FXAA antialiasing and turned OFF vsync. I saw that this time, even with antialiasing on, I got a smooth gameplay on my damn old rig! I took some screens too, here they are: Edited April 23, 2015 by Sayak96 Lowi, Anshuwali, Kill Frenzy! and 4 others
