The biggest problem with V's map are all those damn mountains. It feels like R* made all of those mountains to create filler to make the map bigger.

It would have been cool if they'd taken one of those mountains and replaced it with a huge forest or even another small town. The Paleto Forest feels way too small, in my opinion.

Yes, they do. But V doesn't allow once you're done with everything the game has to offer in the single player portion of the game.

I don't care about whether its true to real life Southern California or not, but more importantly, how much the map allows players, in regards to the gameplay - freedom of choice and the ways to interact with the environment than just being decorative pieces for taking snapmatic shots.

There should be a good amount of things, in activities and content, and enough freedom and action to really have fun playing.

Similar to the amazing GTA SA, and even VC or III ( Heck even GTA 2 ), as the GTA sandbox game, that will stay with you forever, and perhaps the greatest replayablity to keep returning for some more GTA SP goodness.

Then the problem isn't the map it's the things you do in it .............and actually v offers the second most things to do in gta series just after SA ............and how gta 2 or 3 have more things to do or even vc? are you fooling yourself i'm sorry because it looks like that......................and Sa yes it have more things to do (that's way it's my best gta) but also lots of them were poorly designed (like gang wars-and races) yes there are problems with this things but not all races tho.......Greatest replayabillity..............Man everytime i play SA or iv i don't care about the side missions at all (not all of them of course) so it was fun and interesting only during the time of release and 3 years later (this point goes to sa only)....................i mean lots of gamers actually don't stick around to finish all this side missions i'm sorry but it's true None of my friends did actually .............only me who finished sa and iv very close to 100% .....................i had fun with most the side activites in sa and just 4 or 3 that i had fun with them in iv unfortunately ...................... sometimes i do this things that isn't fun and poorly made just to achieve 100%.......and i feel regret i wasted my time doing this to be honest.

 

notes: i prefer quality over quantity...........i don't know why it's the other way around here in the forums.

But i do agree the desert should be a little larger.

There`s only been one other GTA between SA and V and that`s IV, and that was their first effort at an HD game with the new engine and everything. Are you telling me that after almost ten friggin` years they couldn`t come up with something that was nearly as rich as SA? I find that hard to believe. They want people to play GTA Online is my theory and a stellar SP experience would only get in the way of that. I think that`s part of the reason why the story is rushed and why you have to go to the Online to do races etc. GTA VI might even be a free game to download and play but with nothing you do unless you go to the multiplayer, and that`ll require a monthly subscription or something sinister. I shudder to think it.

Still like i said V offer more then any other gta except SA ...............and the reason why gta sa have more because that's the best rockstar game and best gta ever made and it had rpg elements...but also it had poorly designed stuff and lots of things aren't worth doing more then once...........like i said i prefer quality over quantity...........and the motion capture was done 5 years ago (that's the first thing they did if you noticed it and i agree the ending it's little rushed but not too rushed after i focused more in the dialogue and the events that happened before the ending i got it) and they put a lot effort in the sp actually from the alive world to the little detail.......to the missions style.....to people talk to you.....and random encounters....and random events.....to the storyline (you can cut that part out if you don't like the story that much) to people actually talk to each other again.......and the wild life......and the weapons...to the gameplay...and the side activities in the game that actually worth doing to all kind of players (not talking about yoga here don't get me started) and better fighting style then iv (of course it's not that great but still better then iv) to the racers(you should pick a weaker car then the others have to be more challenging) .......and the parachute jumps and the collectables........and the police become more challenging just like the old gta's (i agree his too agressive tho).......and the graphics of the sp i mean wow......what else.......to the easter eggs in the game and funny humor (sometimes over the top to be honest).....to the amount of vehicles...............i know you consider all this bullsh*t (maybe)........but i wouldn't say they only cared about the multiplayer...........i mean valve don't care about making games anymore if you noticed......they only care about steam and the multiplayer of their games................but Noooooo i don't see anyone have said that valve don't care about their games anymore and only care about the multiplayer..........like you guys did with rockstar make sense huh?

The concept of the V map itself is twatish. And then as you go further and further in detail, the twatier it becomes.

 

Firstly, what I mentioned about the core concept, big island with road around it.

 

Then there's the mountains taking up half the bloody map

 

Then there's the desert and a town with next to nothing in it.

 

Then going deeper, there's the city. Littered with mundane activities that provide no freedom, nor show any imagination. Have you been to the cinema for example? f*ck me its 10 minutes you'll never get back. Then there's the slap in the face that is yoga, whoever decided to put that in a game about crime and heists deserves to be stabbed with a spoon. Businesses you can buy and supposedly manage, WITH NO INTERIOR! Why am I spending $30 million dollars on a rectangular brick wall. You'd think you'd at least be able to go inside and explore your new acquisition. Hell, you buy Smoke on the Water and you cant even sell A f*ckING JOINT! Things like tennis and golf - since when was this a freaking sports simulator? Don't forget a casino that doesn't open, a popular nightclub from TBOGT that blasts music from the inside, just to tease you, an empty horse track, the list goes on.

Did i say it's better..........i clearly said it had more things then v and v has the second in gta history...........and there were some problems with side things in sa.........but doesn't make it less then V..............and when i said quality over quantity i was referring to v because it had done everything it had right in terms of side activities but still the side activities aren't more then SA...............and i never liked the mods for sa .......i just used trainers and some graphic mods.............but it was very good on iv.

I just think making a circling highway around a crater map where everything is cramped north of Los Santos is kinda lazy and uncreative, not R* standard at all. There would have been so much opportunities to create a nice map with SoCal locations and I was looking forward for that before the map was leaked in 2013... but it's just disappointing as hell to me, and my expectations weren't that high on the map. Something like in my OP would have satisfied me. It ain't really bigger than GTA V, maybe a little, but it has a layout with lots of destinations and different areas.

 

And no I can't do better. Am I disallowed to criticize the quality of my purchase because of that? That argument is invalid as f*ck. My statement you've quoted might be a bit stroppy yeah, but that's no justification for calling me a joke and requesting my ban. Seriously you must be f*cking talkative and attention begging if insulting other members makes you feel better.

I don't know maybe because it's based on true places..........maybe if you actually lived in L.A and all that surroundings.........maybe just maybe you wouldn't complain like that......Next time don't put any expectations on any rockstar game and games in general so you don't get disappointing as hell especially on particular things .....who would know that people got disappointing even before the release of the game...what a world we live in pal...want an example me i didn't put much hype for the witcher 3 and the game was downgraded in graphics but i didn't care see.

and wether you like or not gta 5 was marked if not the best it's one of the best open world games of all time...and sa too.

Compare it to all of the previous maps we've had and it's the ONLY one that's anything like realistic. If you want a map that doesn't bear any resemblance to the real world, that's fine, but personally, I think this map is closer to reality than anything we've had before, and I'm not just talking about in GTA games.

 

The real point is, though, what's the use in complaining about a map we already have? Saying it would have been better to have another map is moot, because we have what we have, and that's the end of it. If you'd been suggesting maps for a different instalment of the game, fair enough, but whining about a map that isn't going to change is a bit pointless, don't you think? Even with the best will in the world, no amount of complaining is going to make it change, especially when you consider R* are incredibly (and rightly) proud of this map.

 

It's insanely well made, I've never had any issues with it technically, or seen anything to particularly complain about with it. It's a damn good map.

 

That fan made map is a bit of a mess IMO. The big irony being that people complain about the amount of mountain in V, and there's MORE on that map on the west side than there is in V currently. Make your bloody minds up.

Agreed..but the fan made map looks mess but it will be totally enjoyable despite being a big mess...and i don't get why he surprised when you challenged him to make a better one he said it himself it looks they made it in 10 minutes that's not work of professionals (despite being on a real places tho)

I believe they said in one of the previews that building the map was the first year of development, then it was tweaked along the way. There's not a single person on this board that could do better - if they could, they'd be getting paid to make awesome maps for games companies, rather than waving their willies in everyone's face on the internet.
