Can you change your online characters name?

Is there any way to change your online characters name or is it permanent?

Go to the Choose Character option and it will give you an option to Re-Name your character.

What is the sense behind the character name? It seem to never appear in the game, there is always just the RSSC name.

If you want to change your display name on scoreboard, you can change that in Social club ONCE A YEAR. Ingame press HOME to open social club overlay, press the gear nextt your profile (settings) and then profile. There should be an option to change your name. As for the character, you can rename it in the character swithc menu (switching between online characters) but there's no point in that
