Marksman Rifle: The Noob's Sniper Rifle

What I find hilarious is that ever since its release whenever I am caught in a long distance battle people always whip out this rifle and spam the living sh*t out of it till they hit me eventually. Its a noob's sniper rifle since it does not punish you for not making every shot count and missing the vast majority of the time. A normal sniper rifle has small clips and a low rate of fire to compensate for its high damage and ability to one shot via headshots. Not with this weapon, does the same damage as a normal sniper rifle and can one shot via headshot like the others without the need to actually aim it.

I myself refuse to use it out of principle and stick with the Heavy Sniper, landing headshot after headshot without spraying and praying in hopes I hit my target eventually. Its hilarious is that before its release hardly anyone can snipe for sh*t in this game cause its one of the few guns out there that cannot use the aim assist and you actually have to aim, as well as spammers being severely punished for missing their shots.

 

Even with that I win most of my sniper duels against Marksman Rifle spammers, many flip out accusing me of aimbotting for being able to headshot them whilst being able to strafe back and forth simultaneously at full running speed by holding down the A button to sprint whilst strafing. Regardless though I find it insulting how they watered down the skill necessary as a sniper with the introduction of this weapon since it takes very little skill to use since you can just keep spamming it till you hit your target eventually. It went from hardly anyone doing it to everyone doing it since it became so easy a caveman can do it with this weapon equipped.

 

At least they can do is nerf its damage to where it takes 5 or 6 body shots to kill a target instead of just 2 or rarely 3. It should not pack the damage of a true sniper rifle since it barely behaves as one and is more a semi automatic Carbine with a scope attached. With such a huge clip and rate of fire, this should be offset with a very low damage output per shot. That way you can spam to your hearts content but you're gonna have to land more shots to kill your target than the other two rifles, providing an incentive to actually use one of the other two.

Every other weapon in the game with large magazines and high rates of fire deal low damage per round so why not the Marksman Rifle?

 

I actually have a weird way I hold my controller whilst sniping, when going into sniping mode I keep my right index finger pressed on the A button at all times to be able to sprint whilst strafing. I use my right thumb on the right analog stick to aim and only occasionally taking it off to make scope adjustments by using my right thumb on the D pad to do the proper adjustments without ever needing to stand still, and lastly I use my right middle finger to take the shot.

It looks weird but it gets the job done.

You can strafe with any rifle, I strafe constantly when wielding the Heavy Sniper and you can do the same with the normal rifle as well. Strafing is nothing unique to the Marksman Rifle.

Heavy sniper is more of a noob weapons IMO even though you unlock it later. Why? It has longer ranger, upgrade-able to a higher magnification sight, and you can one shot in the body. Marksman rifle has a shorter distance scope and less damage. I know because I prefer the noob heavy sniper lol easier kills

Coming from a guy who only uses the Heavy Sniper I can tell you that it does not do one shots to the body anymore, they nerfed that long ago. Its either 2 body shots (or more when the enemy is armored) or a single headshot. Players very often survive the first shot if I miss and it hits him in the torso, leaving me to fire a second shot to finish him off.

Also as I said before I prioritize headshots and at the time of writing this, out of the 3556 kills I made with the weapon 2333 of them were headshots, that means well over half of my kills were heashots.

I agree OP. I've never ever as a gamer asked for any weapon in any game to be nerfed, but sometimes it just makes sense. Here's what it really comes down to for good players though: adapt. I think the main way to combat it is to let them hold their marksman rifles, but prevent them the opportunities to pull the trigger on you.

 

And of course almost no one who prefers the marksman rifle will acknowledge your legit points, so get ready for the aggressive replies.

What do you mean by "noob"? The damage and scope? It's really how a real sniper rifle should be, that and the silenced sniper rifle. It's simply a better weapon in terms of damage and scope, that doesn't make it nooby does it?. Whether it's a one shot kill to the body or not depends on the player being shot (their armor, IDK if their strength helps, if anyone knows please tell me). By the time anyone unlocks the heavy sniper rifle, they're not a noob anymore, whereas the marksman rifle is available at level one.

I also agree with OP. Tbh I have started using the marksman rifle and agree that it is a noob friendly weapon. I still prefer the heavy rifle but it is easier to use the marksman rifle.

 

+ that one or two shots for the heavy sniper requires precision which is something that marksman users don't have

Heavy Sniper was never nerfed. I get one shot body kills all the time with it. It depends on the other players level. High level players may need 2-3 body shots to take them down.

I think this is accurate. I can get one hit kills on some, but not all.

 

But I do see a great deal of heavy sniper nerf topics on Google. Also plausible.

 

But frankly... Who cares? Calling someone a noob for using an effective weapon is so asinine. Congrats on having the skill to be good with an inferior weapon... I guess?

 

This is coming from a guy who doesn't use the marksman. I just prefer the range of the heavy sniper. If I'm close enough to be in range for another player using a marksman, I just zig zag at them into lockon range and nuke em with the advanced rifle.

 

I'm sure someone somewhere will call me a noob for using the advanced rifle.

I use both marksman rifle and heavy snipe. heavy snipe for long distance like roof top sniping, sniping choppas etc, n the marksman rifle short to medium range targets, esp when I have multiple targets. (on ground street fighting or areas like LSC @ burton etc etc or survivals) one thing I really like with the marksman is the ur little dot in the scope turns red when u move ur scope across a player, so if their hiding in bushes ect u can still get em (BANG HA HA) im rank 247 now n I use both so does that make me a noob or half a noob. ( don't answer, don't care).

There had been many cases where torso shots did not kill my target with the Heavy Sniper and there were many cases where I was shot by one in the torso and walked away from it. This did not used to be the case in the game's youth, as long as the target was hit, the target dies.

Even when I shot them in the arms or leg they died, but not anymore.

 

Regardless this does not change the fact that the Marksman Rifle does too much damage per round considering its clip size and fire rate. It only takes 2 or 3 shots to kill a target, the same amount of shots it takes to kill a target with the other two rifles. The only difference being both the other two fire slower and have smaller magazines. There is a reason the vast majority of people these days use the Marksman Rifle above all else.

There is really no argument, High levels are high levels and should not be f*cked with. Simple, the heavy sniper is a gun you actually have to work for whereas the marksman is buy-able at any level, too much bullets in one mag. Too much damage. End of.
