I can't play online with people - ABSURD LAG

I can't play online with other people, there is an absurd lag, the kind that on my screen I'm doing a thing and on my friend's screen he is seeing another thing, completely different. The only way to play online is in private sessions or in some rare services that don't lag (like asta la vista).

 

My internet is 30mb download and 2 mb upload. My pc is i7 4770k, 16gb ram, gtx 780ti, ssd 500gb plus sata hd.

 

A friend has the same internet provider (but 10mb) and don't have any problem. What to do? I tried to use the google DNS and it didn't work.

 

I don't know how to configure proxy or VPN or port fowarding, but if anyone thinks this will improve, and can help me I appreciate it.

 

I'm almost crying with rage and frustration. I have no problems with any online game, I play all without packet loss and low pings.

 

Please someone help me!

I am having the same issue.Everyone has like 500-600 ping online i cant even shoot people.

Are you using a wireless connection?

 

If so, download a program called InSSIDer (it should be free). Once it's installed, run the program and click on network at the top, look at the graph and see how many other routers are overlapping with your routers "channel". Change your routers channel to a channel that won't be overlapped by another router and your problems should hopefully disappear.

I'm having this issues too. I live in the UK and am with Plusnet for my ADSL. My download speed and upload is good for ADSL and in every other game I play its fine but when I play a public session on GTA:O I get huge lag. My girlfriend was playing Everquest 2 one of the times and her ping to EQ2 was sitting at 1600ms while I was in a public lobby. Also notice a lot of rubber banding in game if I'm in a public lobby with people.

 

Both computers are on a wired network so wifi interference isn't an issue for these computers. Can't figure out where the issue lies here.

 

This isn't isolated to the PC version either. I had been playing it on PS4 before it came out on PC and never noticed the issue, was lag spikes when I would go into a mission or something but only while it was loading then pings were back to normal. But went to test if it was a PC issue but when I tried it on the PS4 again I had the same high ping issue.

 

Hoping someone has a suggestion to fix this cause I am stumped, only thing I can think on its a routing issue but then it should affect more people and shouldn't really be happening in other countries too unless its a Rockstar server issue.

Im using cable. I tried connected to the router and directly connected to the modem.

 

2 friends have the same internet provider and play without problems, but they live in different neighborhoods. I can play all the other games without problems.

 

I tried to play with my 3G celular internet (it sucks) and the game went much better, so I thinks it's the route that my connection is doing to the server. But when I did a tracert to prod.cloud.rockstargames.com (I think this is the server), my connection got a good ping, and my 3G got a very bad ping. If this is really the server address, I don't understand why my 3G connection was much worse in tracert, but in the game was much better.

 

I got a new internet provider and I am waiting for the installl. I hope it works. I will stay with the two internet providers and I will use this second only to GTA.
