NyteRev
Sorry, I don't own GTA V for PC, but this thread isn't for me. It's for one of the streamers I usually watch--- So we recently tried to start up GTA V today and the problem is the streamer currently need to rebind all the keys to fit his needs. However doing so causes problems considering if he unbinds one key... The game literally shows the error sign indicating that he need to rebind some other keys in order to start up the game... He primarily wanted to play the game with his controller, however today we notice that he can't actually rebind anything to the xbox controller(which he originally thought it was going to possible). He said he was able to play the rest of the GTA series because they had a classical controller scheme... but going through GTA V controller scheme we realized that there was no indication of the controller scheme he needed. When I asked him to define the controller scheme this is what I recorded: "Classic control scheme: A was sprint, B was melee, X was shoot, Y was jump in your car, Right bumper was to aim. However aim wasn't needed because upon starting to shoot the character automatically aims." I never used classic controller scheme before but I'm really wondering if it's possible to possibly bring back the classic controller screen or make a new one. loony979

The only way to make the scheme the way he likes it is by using x padder and remapping all the keys to the buttons he likes, but the game won't detect him as using a gamepad. loony979
for me i am also having this issue ,tho for me it's with Logitech F710 ,only issue i have with it is LT-RT = as excelerate & brake/reverse i like it as A & B on the controller .As it was with gta iv . Just bought a new controller just for this game ,and others .Was hoping i could swap the key on the conjtroller over for driving tho there is no real changes you can do to it .Kind sucks if they add these setting or allow for custon keys or Classic Control Scheme ) to what you want them to be like other games then it would be so much better to play . Tho considering it's still new ill wait for the next update to come to see if they had added this ,if not ill have to find a fix some how ,i wonder if i can do it throw the Logitech Profiler ,as ive never had to use that b4. So Yes -- Classic Control Scheme or even GTA IV Scheme. Its a big must and not even sure why they keep changing these .& lets not forget that if where these buttons are on Console = what you like why didn't they add it like that to pc ? this has got me a bit baffled. I hope they Do This .

He said he used x padder before, the only problem is upon doing so... moving the stick in a diagonal direction causes the movement to feel robotic... Is there any way to fix that or no? badincite
Try x360ce works well with my joystick... still annoyed yaw cant be mapped to an axis. So it cant be a smooth motion got so use to my bf4 settings makes it hard to fly and aim.
Kampret
The only software I know on changing binds on controllers are xpadder. The reason why movements are static when using xpadder is because it's emulating keyboards and mouse instead of another controller.
NyteRev
Question: Considering this is the PC version... Would it be possible to actually mod/code the extra controller scheme into the game? Did anyone try to mess around with the files once they got them?

Did anyone try to mess around with the files once they got them? As it stands right now no one can edit the raw files of the game, they can only be viewed. JaNieMoge
Yeah there is a fix. It's called Ds3 tool. Works not only as emulator ps3 pad -> xbox 360 pad: it also enable to remap buttons (as both inputs - ps3 and xbox 360). And yes, it's still gonna act like gamepad buttons, not keyboard. So forget about crap xpadder. I like flying heli on classic (well, now I can fly on both schemes, but back then I cannot), so when I first heard that in gta 5 they left ONLY standards, I remapped buttons through ds3 tool, to see if it gonna work in V, while being on standards (I made R2 as X and rest buttons that way to simulate classics) and yes, it's 100% works. So I bet same method gonna work in V. Only sad thing is, triggers on that "simulated" classic scheme won't be pressure sensitive (at least they arent in gta 4), so for egzample heli turn by trigger gonna be exactly same as on bumper. I hope this helps. In case if u have windows 8.1 - sometimes ds3 tool dont work there. Then u should take a look at SCP DS DRIVER package. tizerist
Multi-million pound game and they don't even let you edit you edit your joypad keys, or in my case, it won't even detect it. Massive fail! I've used Xpadder to solve this to a certain extent, but I don't wanna push up to accelerate a vehicle. That sucks eggs big time. Developers: That was the first thing you should have put in the game. Games from 1982 allow you to do this, there's no excuse.
JaNieMoge
Read above. Ds3 Tool solves a problem. It can remap buttons even for xbox 360 pad, not only dualshock 3. But, yes, Rockstar made a bad joke by getting rid of OPTION for classic controls, just like in gta 4. I don't know why they want to force us to use ONLY triggers for accelerate. Now I'm used to standards so I don't cry, but objectively, classics are little bit easier. Standards has one advantage though - comfort in controlling camera view (right stick) while controlling throttle (by trigger). Useful in jet for egzample. Imagine moving right stick in all directions while pressing X (or A for xbox controller)... possible but harder. But, ye, I think I will test that "custom" classic anyway Edited April 27, 2015 by JaNieMoge
