Orpheus148
So I'm looking at the list of properties and some of them are quite expensive. And take as long as 500+ weeks to break even. Do you guys usually buy properties after you do all the assassination missions at the end of the game so that you have a sh*t ton of money? But how does that work on the other hand with time passing so slow. I cant imagine how long 500+ weeks takes in gta v, because time stops when you're not playing right? thc_404
Better to just look at those "properties" as money sinks, rather than money making businesses.
Shadowfennekin
What I do is do all the Assassinations, buy the properties I didn't get yet, then go do the Random event that affects Twinkle. BAM, money back to max and income for when I buy stuff.
S1N0D3UTSCHT3K
the only one I've even close to broke even on after 200 hours (and I usually sleep to pass time at night) is Smoke on the Water... it has the best return on investment technically it's at $195k return so far on a $204K price tag.. so hopefully before the story DLC, it'l break-even, and then it's riding the pure profit waaaave.... or at least covers my impound fees haha only other decent one for making actual money is the McKenzie hangar... your alternative is mostly just armoured cars, so doing smuggling runs is a good way before the Heists (Especially for Trevor) to get a little spending cash for mods... so far that's up to about $143K for me, and it also close but not at breaking even with an original price of $150K. that's a lot of smuggling though that I've done. at about 200 hours on this file, all the other missions are barely 3-12% made back so far hahaha it'll take years for some of them for reference, my biggest PS3 file was is about 250 hours and Smoke on the Water has made back about $320K (on $204K) and McKenzie has made $277K (on $150) so bigger return on that file mostly because I passed time by sleeping more (role playing) and I spent a lot more time doing smuggling missions... I'm surprised it's that high haha I forgot... that's about 46 smuggling runs quite a few. I did one pretty often whenever I logged in and I played that file basically all of last year (casually every week) until the PS4 release all the other businesses though, not even close to making make their returns yet... even with Smoke on the Water at $320K on $204K.... Countyclub has still only made back $9.8M and the biggest cinema also exactly $9.8M.... so break even is a looooong way away even at 250 hrs played and probably months (I bet over 200 days in-game have passed likely even more than 250 days of game time) so the returns are sooooo slow haha
redpoint
Don't buy properties to make money, you'll be disappointed.
Homicidal Hipster
I know this May seem like a dumb question but how do you check how much profit you've made?

I usually buy a couple for each character, for RP purposes and to have some steady income coming in. It's not about making a profit as much as it is having income coming in at a regular basis. Story missions, that pay, are few and far between and a good portion of the heists lack payment as well. Edited April 22, 2015 by Gigs84

razmat
thanks i'll give it a shot. so if the properties give some extra missions then at least that's something. Edited April 25, 2015 by razmat
