Mambo123
On a 360 controller, you either have to smash A repeatedly with your right thumb, or you actually have to hold the left thumb stick down for the entire time you're running? That's not the regular FPS way even though they label it like that. The regular FPS way is to click the thumb stick down once and you can let it up as long as you hold the analog stick foward. So why does GTA insist on punishing our thumbs? I was thinking of mapping the controls to Xpadder, the same as they haven't except adding a distance zone on the left analog, so when you push*t Foward 1-99% it's regular jog, and if you hold it all the way foward it's spirnt. If I do this though, would I lose anything else, like console games tend to have aim assist even when you manual aim and I may lose that if I use Xpadder instead of the default controls. topeira
i play with a controller. i changed the control scheme to standard FPS 2. this way i can also move fast while aiming. and also changed to alternated handbrake so i can break with A and not RB. the default schemes for this game , IMO, are definitely not the most comfortable. and if i was playing with a keyboard i'd map the sprint to SPACE (like i always do) which is far far more comfortable than SHIFT (just is X or SHIFT, which is a button used far less often than sprint so it can be less comfortable to press, not to mention it doesnt need to be held down). Error2k
After few years of tapping X in 4 and 5 my thumb started squeaking. Thank you Rockstar.

Mokrie Dela
guy's got a point. RSI is a serious problem to people who use computers and video games. Usually affects after several years. jazzbone
the answer is,and alway will be, is to offer custom controller mapping along with X & Y axis choice to invert or not. Having the ability to run/sprint is great, but tapping X or any other button with a thumb is certainly not the first choice for everyone. Tapping L3 once to lock run in until release or pulling back of the L stick works for me as i can still control the camera and requires only my left thumb for running. I play on a ps3. You don't want to get to age 50 and have thumbs like rice crackers. Do you feel a double tap sprint button toggle would work? It might, you know. Or at least a toggle switch in the menu. Turbo controller modification? Not an option for everyone. Not everyone knows how or can do that, or even wants to. If you weren't playing on 360, you could just go into FPV. This is the worst argument ever. If we weren't playing the game at all, we wouldn't worry about this. In fact, if you mother never met your dad, you'd be unable to say this comment. Ifs and hypotheticals are piss-poor arguments. For just running in streets its not that hard but when races its same like real life sport for my fingers I wonder if that's the point - whether it's deliberately tap A to simulate the effort it takes to run, or the repetitive motion... PKFillmore
I have the same problem. (ps4) I always hit L3 instead of x throwing my character into 'stealth' mode effectively effing me up. I SAID RUN YOU, CRAP
