lydianduck
So I noticed when using v sync, your framerate cuts in exactly half in certain spots of the map unless you turn it off, go back to the game, and turn it on again. (triple buffering is supposed to prevent this, but it seems like in this game it's not working properly) I confirmed this over and over again; This happens in dense grass spots, some places near water and near Trevor's airport; And by the way, we tried this on my friend's pc too and it had the exact same effect (he was getting 30fps drops around the desert airport too and the v sync trick made it go back to 60 again). So if you're getting weird framerate drops in some areas try it, I know some people are reporting this in other threads (and it seemed to fix this guy's issue too: http://gtaforums.com/topic/786325-wtf-is-going-on-with-the-grass/ ) I know it helped me and some more people on this forum, Rockstar has to take note of this! vLaDz
I can confirm it works, for whatever reason i started the game today in Michaels house on 30 fps, it was weird but then i was like should i check my vSync and it was on " On " so i put it on off back in the game then put it on on. Back to 60 fps!
FilipCRO
I can also confirm this. But tell me one thing. Is it bad if I have 2 Vsyncs activated (the ingame Vsync and the Vsync in Nvidia control panel) ? I enabled Vsync in nvidia control panel, so the ingame Vsync should be turned off, right ? RyanBurnsRed
I got tired of having to toggle the vsync every time I started up the game. So now I'm using the vsync in the Nvidia Control Panel
lydianduck
That doesn't work in my case (my framerate still locks to 30), The only nvidia v sync that prevented this was Adaptive. Edited April 20, 2015 by lydianduck
interfreak
I got tired of having to toggle the vsync every time I started up the game. So now I'm using the vsync in the Nvidia Control Panel I do to, with triple buffering enabled. However, I still enable/disable Vsync in game when it starts, as it forces triple buffering to work (despite it being on in the NCP). There is a glitch at the moment where triple buffering will sometimes not engage unless you flick the in game Vsync on and off. FilipCRO
r0llinlacs
It works for me when I change the refresh rate then change it back... I think changing any graphic setting will work. But yeah, same deal here. Lags after a while, change refresh rate and apply, change it back and apply and it fixes the lag. Scalesdini

lydianduck
Uhm, triple buffering in nvidia's control panel is for opengl applications only; If you use nvidia's vsync, it comes with triple buffering by the default anyway, but it's still not working properly on this game, your only options are to use the v sync trick described in the opening post or use Adaptive vsync, that's all.
