What rage is.

Hi everyone. i am going to tell you what rage is for people who don't know. now when gta 3 was released it used a full 3d engine that was not top down. this was known as the "3d universe". every gta game after gta 3 used this engine until gta iv. now at this point rockstar introduced a new game engine called "Rage" aka "Rockstar advanced game engine". this is known as the "hd universe". now rage has some pros and cons.

pros:

mods are easier to install

players can swim

allows for actual interiors

allows for mobile phones and phone cheats

allows for working computers

cons:

player can not fly airplanes anymore

weird grainy effect.

gta v and gta iv are rage games. it is possible to put rage into the 3d universe games like gta vc by using a mod. things like this make the 3d universe games look amazing.

here is a video of rage installed into gta vice city.

if you look the menus look at lot like gta iv this is because its vice city on the gta iv engine (rage). rage mods can be installed into any 3d universe game.

i hope you now what rage is.

The engine used in GTA III, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas was RenderWare, developed by Criterion Games, and a lot of games used it, like Burnout, Bully, Black, Manhunt, PES, The Warriors, THPS, etc.

Any videogame engine doesn't "allow" you to swim, to have actual interiors, fly airplanes and have mobile phones. It's all about design decisions, made by the game's developer (Rockstar North).

RAGE stands for Rockstar Advanced Game Engine, it was developed by Rockstar San Diego in 2006 for use in seventh and eigth generation of consoles. Games like GTA IV, GTA V, Max Payne 3, Red Dead Redemption are developed with RAGE.

It can't be "installed into GTA Vice City", any 3D universe game, or even another game. See, the HUD in this video look a lot like GTA IV, because this video is a mod for GTA IV, which is using GTA Vice City textures and HUD.

Lethal Vaccine

I watched the Vice City clip above, but like guiguido said, it's a IV mod. The Infernus he drives there has the same physics as IV, even the same engine sounds as the high end cars from IV like the Turismo, Super GT, etc...

Tommy isn't running like lightning anymore, either. He runs like Niko, Johnny, Luis, and the Trio from V. Everything seems to be very IV-ish and not actually all that Vice City-ish...

The engine used by the 3D era games is called RenderWare, and not all games after III used RW, as GTAA did not use it. And like people said before, you can't simply put game engines into other games.

Man, I already knew "What rage is".

I don't know why you had to tell us something like that.

Do you know what google is?

Anyways, nice to know.

All you've done was list design features NOT engine features.
Besides, who wouldn't know what RAGE/RW is - I mean, here on GTAForums.

universetwisters

>implying players couldn't swim in SA and VCS

>implying TBOGT and V had grainy effects

Faux greentext because I'm lazy aside, you should probably read what a game engine actually is before making a topic for it. At first I thought you made this topic assuming folks were living under a rock, but then evidently it seemed like you were with your lack of research.
