darkky123
Hello ! I recently bought GTA V for PC, thinking my PC can handle it. First of all, my PC specs are: FX-6300 HD 7790 (Sapphire Dual-X , OC) 1 GB, 128-bit 4 GB RAM And I play on a resolution of 1280x1024 most of the time (although on my TV - 1920x1080 - I don't see any major differences in FPS). My settings are on the lowest ones (everything that can be on normal is on normal, DX 10, everything chat can be off it's off) I have the latest AMD driver (15.4) So...The issue goes like this. I start playing, everything is fine, at the beginning the FPS is somewhere around 70, maybe 50 or 60. After a while (like a minute or so) the FPS starts dropping continuously, until it reaches 20-35 FPS and stays there, in that range. If I go indoors, the FPS sometimes jumps to 50, but stays in the 40s range. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I checked the used RAM, it never exceeds 3.5 GB (including GTA V and any other processes running in the background). The VRAM, as shown in game, does not exceed 1000 out of 1024 available 1024 MB. I tried reinstalling my graphics drivers, doing a clean install, still the same. I tried putting GTA V on High Priority in Task Manager. I monitored GPU temperature and it does not go above 52*C. (Idle temps are ranging from 37 to 41) When I Alt-Tab out of the game and go to Task Manager, the CPU usage is never above 70% (is this good or bad?) [] Reducing my resolution under 1280x1024 doesn't cause any boost in FPS. *When I cap my FPS to 30 (on my TV, using 30Hz Refresh rate + VSync along with 1920x1080 resolution // 60Hz Refresh rate + VSync set on Half from the game settings), it stays there (I haven't seen it go under 26, and that 26 FPS I seen only once), but I just can't play with 30 FPS, it feels too sluggish, too laggy. I need at least 45 FPS to " feel good ". I wonder, if my **PC is too bad to run the game at over 50 FPS, why at the beginning I have more than 50 and then it just drops ? (**by PC I mean CPU and GPU, because I can add 4 more gigabytes of RAM ; should I ? ) So, is there any fix for this issue ? darkky123
Update: Added 4GB Ram, still the same issue.
CrazyLamer
Well 4gb of ram is way too low with todays standards of games, and also vram under 2gb is also too low for nearly all games up-to-date. Your computer specs are too low to stay at 50-60 fps, a friend of mine has 8gb of ram and an geforce 460 and even his computer struggles to stay on a stable fps. Since when a game is running it usually builds up the cache file over time and when it exceeds a certain amount if having low on ram and vram it starts to struggle against it. Vsync should be turned off for a higher framrate on low-grade systems, and you should also be modify the antialising and anistrophic settings in the graphics card settings from the amd/catalyst center, atleast it works on nvidia cards and that usually boosts a few fps in some games. But 1gb of vram is too little imo, even though the minimum specs on the game states 1gb vram and 4gb ram it¨s not always correct since they might have run those tests on a different cpu and ram speeds. Try to mix with that and reply if it doesn't fix anything.
RedDagger
Yeah, the problem here looks to be your graphics card. As well as the above try a lower resolution, but in the end you're not going to be able to get much out of that.
