Despite a lot of people claim that gta v isn't a crime game and feel like a child game and you actually working with the FIB to help the world to be a better place.

I was expecting Michael to be a Neil McCauley/Tony Soprano combination, but he was the FIB's lapdog for most of the time. He is a great character and he's definitely my favorite character in GTA V. His mannerisms, his badassery made him a very cool character. But he was too much of a pussy to the FIB. I liked his dialogue and personality as well. Don't get me wrong, he's No. 3 in my favorite GTA protagonist minus EFLC, 2D games, and the Stories games. Ned Luke did a tremendous job, and I appreciate him for bringing Michael back to life, but GTA V's story is heavily flawed in character development and pacing. I hope that Michael would be less of a softy in the SP DLC, go back to his old Michael Townley days.

 

I'm sorry but my best gta was sa and he was bitched by frank tenpenny almost the entire game and he is the one responsible of the fantasy journey cj had the number of the missions that will serve the story's goal is about 35 or 36 missions that's it and everything you had done will not matter i'm sorry but it is and that's my best gta and i didn't complain about being used(Forced or volunteer)............. i still don't understand why cj couldn't kill him you know this used to happen back in 1992 in L.A anyone can kill anyone and get away with it........But in V they were bigger a lot bigger

I thought the topic was about Michael ranking #4 on a "top ten video game thieves list"? Sure, Niko is a fan favorite (whom I prefer over him) - yeah, he's getting blackmailed by the feds in a similar fashion CJ was by C.R.A.S.H.

 

But it doesn't change the fact that he's a video game character that steals sh*t real good, I'm surprised they even managed to get the list to go up to ten.

Like Michael said to Franklin he's a great thief, but he's not a good family man. I like how that he believes that he's the good guy, but in reality, he isn't. I like how he does not understand his demons, in which, gave more depth to his character, made him feel more human. Props to Ned Luke for giving us an amazing performance, and I hope that he appears in more movies and tv shows, because I really want to see him act in a movie. He'll be perfect for a Scorsese movie in my opinion. The closest he got to Scorsese is his appearance in Boardwalk Empire, which is an excellent show.

 

@woggleman: I agree on the first part that IV received heavy backlash back then in 08, but what's the past is the past, and more people get to acknowledge IV, since most of the criticism is just plain stupid and mostly is subjective to the person, but V had many mistakes in it's design and it tried to hard to please all audiences and that decreases the amount of replay-ability. VC, SA, and IV had great replay-ability and still up to this day it amazes me, and V does the same kinda, but it's not as good as what people deemed it to be. So please stop with all your nonsense and BS, and just accept our opinion of us fans of older GTA games.

I'm not gonna argue that Michael is a good character. He's the most fleshed out of the 3. Personally, I like Trevor better. I don't, however, see how Michael's any better at thieving than any of the others. What makes this so?

I think with more playthroughs and understanding one can appreciate this game and its characters for what they are, a cliche. Because in Los Santos everyone either talks about what they're gonna do or who they're gonna be. Focusing on Michael, the story does just enough to pull of his dimension of family man/retired bank robber. Y'all are focusing on his character but strictly as a thief, he is good. I mean that's what the whole game is about. I don't see why y'all are trying to compare Niko either. Two totally different characters. I don't know, but it's just my opinion, but Mafia 2 had great gameplay despite it's imperfections. The driving is the best I have ever seen from an open world game, especially on Simulation, definitely beats IV's driving. I mean it's not GT or Forza like driving, but it's so realistic and fun to drive in Mafia 2. The wanted system is great as well, when you jump a red light or speeding over the limit, you'll get a ticket and you have to pay for it. It was cool and unique and it made Empire Bay a more lively and atmospheric city. The only thing that I really don't like about Mafia 2, is that it's not a completely open world game like GTA, or Sleeping Dogs. After you finish it, it's over. The city is very lively and fun cruise at, but sometimes it felt like a background of a third person/mafia game and that disappointed me. I love Mafia 2, and it has one of the best stories in Video Games. But it is flawed, but unlike V, the gameplay is top notch good and V however is a hit-and-miss mostly, but it's a good and quite enjoyable game, and I respect it for that.

 

EDIT: IV wasn't a disaster, critics loved it, we all loved it, it was just stupid people who don't realize that this isn't San Andreas 2. It got a 98% on Metacritic, and it was universally loved by many gamers. The hate for IV back in 2008, it just unnecessary, and plain stupid.

Yeah that's my opinion too about mafia 2 despite it has a good A.i but quickly becomes too predictable .............but i still think gta v's gameplay is the best gameplay i have seen in an open world game............and mafia 2 IMO one of the most underrated games of all time like mirror's edge.

They are not stupid people but i know some of them were expecting gta sa 2-but here is the thing about iv.

1-poor missions structure

2-the missions are freaking reptrieve

3-the gameplay impressive at first time then quickly becomes frustrating and really slow.

4-some of the side activities were poorly designed except the assassination ones i enjoyed them

5-poor fighting.

6-lots and lots of really extremely made scripting events not like gta v at least in V we had challenges and san andreas.

7-no checkpoint system for 2008 game.

8-really poor A.I for the enemies except the cops they were ok A.i but there were no challenge in them like san andreas.

9-Characters design were poorly made( i mean people who walks in the street) you can't tell how they look i spent lot of time in gta 4 and i don't remember any of them how they look and i know every single man and women in sa.

10-the city feel alive only slightly over san andreas people don't talk to each other they only say one sentence at a time and feels like a ghost town sometimes i mean i have never been in newyork but i know it's overcrowded city with lots of noise.

11-and since i played it on pc...... the game still have the worst port to this date unlike V and max payne 3. (V can run on intel hd)

12-i only found like 8 or 9 standout songs in gta iv unlike san andreas still have the best soundtruck in a gta game till this date (maybe vc too)

13-No stand out missions like sa and vc and v ........the only standout mission was Three leaf glover and the ending(that's why they made v) and even this mission was almost like the movie heat instead of just inspiration(maybe i'm wrong about his one just maybe).

14- some things don't feel real at all like planes don't go flying from the airport or goes to land...... and people don't move from their places.

15-some not all.......some vehicles handles like sh*t i'm sorry it's true despite i like driving in iv............and almost all bikes handles like sh*t except Freeway.

16-people don't talk to you and you can't talk to them like in Sa and v. even if it was just one sentence replay it's good enough.

17-some places have bad graphics and textures for a 2008 game......i don't know how.

18-it's the first Gta that made people say (GTA IS OVERRATED GTA SUCKS) Not v like you think it is...............even some critics eventually say it's overrated like IGN And gamespot

19-some not all.......... heilcopters handles very hard i don't know why.

20-only few cloths we can buy for niko ..................i finished the game only wearing the blue and brown jacket and the expensive suit.

21-eventually the only real fun you will have will be playing cops and robbers i guarantee that to you man......not like SA.

22-you can't replay a certain mission i know there is only few standout missions but what if i wanted to do something like understanding part of the plot.

23- races aren't so good in the game due to some sport vehicles handles not so good..................but there some races that were really good in the game.

24-No customisation in the game at all.

25-still the girlfriends system there and she have to call you for every 10 mintues in the game really annoying. at least amanda in V don't call you at all.

26-only 30% of players have finished iv that's why rockstar didn't add lots of missions in v ( so it's our fault from the very beginning) ........most of us didn't finish gta iv for the first time............Go a head and deny this one.........it's ok to not accept this particular point.

27- lot of people said this the best gta and this the best game every made when it's not even close to the best gta and of course not the best game ever made

(Trust me on this one i have searched for countless of lists for the best vidoegames of all time (not including the metacritc list) from 10 to 100 games of all time and i have never see even an honoreble mention for gta 4 not a single mention in a single list.........i only found GTA SA AND VC AND V and guess what those are my best gta too so i'm not new in gta fan base at all......i have been playing gta since Vc......back when i was 10 or 11 in 2006 or 2007 not sure what is the date)

and since you trust the reviews and the metacritic on gta iv Then why couldn't you Or i trust them in Gta v even the negative user reviews in the metacritc are more then V despite V being a newer gta make sense right?................so you think they are paid reviews for gta v and gta iv is not or any other rockstar game aren't paid..............this doesn't make any sense to me i'm sorry it is......................And as always sorry for bAAD ENGLISH.
