Jacob29
hi i have been having this REALLY annoying issue when things during pop-ins or are at a certain distance away show a lot of dots on them. It's most common on shadows and grass but also happens on entire buildings, hair, posts, pretty much anything. Look at the building on the left (might have to zoom in) bottom of her hair. SideshowRock
That just the way "fading" works in GTA. Maybe you can try to increase draw distance or even in the advanced graphics options (extended draw distance or something)
Jacob29
I've talked to other people about it and they get nothing like this at all though, nor can I see it on any gta v videos or benchmarks. Yet my game is actually FULL of it, it happens EVERYWHERE, ALL the time.
TheAdmiester
It's dithering, there's nothing you can do about it besides playing at a forced higher resolution to hide it.
Jacob29
Man that really blows that this is intentional. Is it even intentional on this shot? Seems really stupid putting dithering in the middle of a flat shadow block. It was also glitching out pretty badly while I was walking back and forth. qwerasdzxc
Did you overclock your GPU?

_CP_
This is normal behaviour of RAGE games, it was fixed in IV/EFLC with a modification, but it seems to be more difficult to get rid of this in V.
Jacob29
Really sad to hear as I think this effect looks like garbage. Wouldn't be so bad if MSAA didn't destroy my r9 290x and make the game run awfully. southparkmayor
Conwin
I'm sure I never used to get this until after the game was patched. It's really awful too, not just because of how it makes distance objects looks but how they appear in motion. It's like jaggies x10. MSAA helps but it really tanks my frames. (where otherwise I can be at 60+ all the time) Is there any fix at all without it? Edited May 10, 2015 by Conwin
hunk41
It's a stippling effect. There is a simple mod fix for it in GTA 4 ( http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=7136), Objects will pop-in instead of gradually dotting out though, but I'm sure those that aren't majorly grainy are going to be normal. But I think it'll be fixable once textures can be edited. southparkmayor
Thats how textures load up. Those "checkered" textures are transitional textures. imo its not quick enough, and too conservative on VRAM.
vlad_8011
It on my pc as well. I'm very interested how people can say that they havent this issue - are they blind? If it game engine, everybody have it, if someone havent - its a bug - so simply reply : IS THIS BUG OR GAME RENDER ? It should be able to disable in engine options or something...
