Marma
All the graphics settings appear to start at normal, then go upwards to high and ultra. Why can't I set options like texture quality and shadows to low or very low? I don't even care if the game looks the same or even slightly worse than how it looked on the xbox 360, I just want to be able to run it. As things stand, I can't even run the game on normal settings with the resolution set to 800x600. The game just freezes the moment I start story mode. My gaming laptop is kind of old now, but it should be more than capable of running a game that ran on the 360. I had no problems running a heavily modded Skyrim on high settings (which actually looked far more visually impressive than GTA 5 does on the highest settings in my opinion). My specs: Intel Core i7-720QM ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 8GB RAM
Lexus.V
it's just a name... just imagine that "normal" is the "low"... Even on normal game looks like a sh*t
GamerFromHolland
Normal is low. I think that at very low, the game would just look like sh*t. Edited April 19, 2015 by GamerFromHolland
Runnin_Gag
Marketing move: They stated that the recommended specs they posted some time ago were for 60fps 1080p on "High" settings. In reality they were (as usual) for ~60fps 1080p on medium settings Edited April 19, 2015 by Runnin_Gag Joriz

RisingRedWolf
There is no reason why your laptop shouldn't be able to handle this game on the lowest settings. You might be due for a factory reset and make sure you install the latest video card drivers. Not sure if AMD put out a GTA V optimised driver like Nvidia did before the game launched, but downloading it is an absolute must if you haven't already. Also check for beta drivers and hotfixes on the AMD website. Also, once the game has loaded, try alt+tabbing out and back in again. This increases my performance from about 45fps to a solid 60pfs throughout the entire world. I think this is just a bug that will get fixed soon. TaliBong
normal settings are WORSE than last gen, just look at signs and posters and such, and you should have no problem playing this, i get along fine on a 6670. oCrapaCreeper
"Normal" is a nice way of saying "low" in this game. Some of the normal settings are worse than last gen, notably normal textures.
utack
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 The latest beta drivers are much better for this game on all dekstop cards, ffs it is labeled "for GTA V". Are you sure you aren't imagining it has worse performance, maybe you should clean install it?

Yeah nah, normal/low settings are straight out of the last gen version, they just seem worse when running at a higher res.

Gdog
Normal = Low High = Medium Very High = High Ultra = Ultra It's just to make poor people with terrible PC's feel like they are getting an acceptable level of graphics/performance. If you're playing on normal you might as well just go play the game on console. The difference between normal > high is huge. If you're playing on PC then everything should be at least on high or else what's the point?
Braindawg
Update or just drop the PC gaming hobby all together and play consoles I thought PC gaming was about having a wider option of hardware that can fit in your budget, but I guess I was wrong and it's actually about flapping your e-peen about having the latest hardware. It is about having a wider variety of hardware to use. Anyone waving their e-peen is to blame for their sh*t attitude, it has nothing to do with them being a PC player. However you can't just fool yourself that any game will work on your 'gaming laptop' that was brand new 5 years ago... (or something, you get the point) Your advantage over console gamers is that you can choose different hardware and build a reletively cheap rig that will run anything modern. But like I said you can't rely on the hardware you buy for more than 5 years in advance. Tech changes.

But like I said you can't rely on the hardware you buy for more than 5 years in advance. Tech changes. I probably worded my post badly, but I agree with what you're saying anyway. The game requires a minimum type of hardware to work, obviously that won't be your 5 year old gaming laptop. All I'm trying to say is that is stupid to act like "if you dont play on high or ultra you shouldn't play on PC" because PC gaming wasn't meant to be about that, sure that beautiful graphics at amazing resolutions is a thing that can only be achieved in PC, but PC gaming is way more than that, is about options and variety, building a gaming rig without spending a lot of money and still being able to enjoy games on it, since you can tweak the games to fit the hardware you got there. You know... sh*t like that. Edited April 20, 2015 by Bxx88
External1989
Well i would also like a low setting option that it would look like ps3/ xbox360 , my desktop has no problem running this at high settings but my laptop with a gt630m , is dying from the inside when running this
