Only 200 user ID's isn't a lot with the amount of social club members. That's like 1 fcrew that go hacked. Changed it just in case.

How do we know if the OP isn't part of this hacking crew and wants people to change passwords now while a keylogging code embedded into the Rockstar Social Club website is currently monitoring all of your new updated passwords?

Nope. Best thing to do is check all aspects of the social club for anything that seems different, or anything that you know you didn't change.

I think this applies to PC users since their purchase is linked to SC. We console plebs have our game linked to our XBL/PSN

Yes if you had been breached and your account info changed you would have recieved an e-mail notifying you of the changes.

I think this applies to PC users since their purchase is linked to SC. We console plebs have our game linked to our XBL/PSN

 

This also applies to console users especally if they use the same password for everything as they can log on with your account info and either steal or delete your character.

 

Better to be safe than sorry

If they get ahold of PC User credidents they can lock them out of the game and they'd never be able to play it again without buying a brand new copy and they can also go in and delete or hijack your character.

For those of you wondering what could possibly happen if your account is hacked..

 

They can change your account setting such as your password and e-mail locking you out of your account and you will never get it back.

 

Can start up the game and delete your character which would make you have to start all over again as well as lock you out of your game completely so you will have to make a brand new account and start over from the beginning

 

Also if you use the same password for everything i'd suggest you change all of your passwords for all accounts with the same password.

 

Its that time again! You thought your password was safe, you thought you could rest easy with Passw0rd1 forever, but no, its time to initiate Pa55word2. Thats right, yet another gaming service may have been victim to a hack, and this might actually matter to you.

 

A report out of OverClock3D claims that Social Club accounts have been compromised with a list of 200 usernames and passwords appearing on pastebin. It hasnt been confirmed by Rockstar, but obviously its always safest to just change your password, again.

 

Password security is such a pain. Like most people, I have a variety of passwords that I use on rotation. However, when remembering what the details are for specific things (Uplay,

 

Steam, PSN, etc) it can get far too frustrating. I know that security is important and I dont want these things to get hacked, but Im so tired of changing my passwords to be more secure, and then forgetting which secure password is used where.

 

I read that passwords are actually less secure now that they have to be so much more complicated people cant remember them all so they store them in text documents on their phones or post-it notes around their offices. Remember the days when putting in a password could remind you of a childhood pet or your significant other? Now its just too easy to crack so youll only be reminded of nice things if your significant other came with a serial number.

RSGSC is Rockstar Games Social Club don't know why he didn't just say social club. The support site is Rockstar support

RSGSC is Rockstar Games Social Club don't know why he didn't just say social club. The support site is Rockstar support

Ok thank you. I would have never though Star gets a separate letter in any acronym concerning R*, as Rockstar is one word. Ok thx Troubadour.

Do we need to? It was only two hundred or so people.

You could have been 1 out of the 200. I don't see what the hassle is..just change your f*cking passwords it takes 20 seconds.

I'm guessing all the accounts that got hacked had generic passwords like "Password1" or stuff like that?

 

Then i'm not even gonna worry about my account being hacked,my PW is somewhat original and it's a common nickname of mine that my friends use with me that i remember perfectly,so unless one of the hackers is a friend of mine,i highly doubt i will get hacked.

 

But might aswell do it,Doing it tomorrow.
