WellsMcK
So I know that people use websites like IsThereAnyDeal to find good deals on PC games. But I'm curious to know, if I buy GTA V on there, will it be region locked? I don't want to spend $47 on a game that is useless. Obviously I wouldn't be saving any money there. I found GTA V is being sold on a website called DLGamer, which is a reputable website, and they have a deal for 23% off any game. Because I'm so skeptical, I am leaning towards just buying it through steam. But I wanted input from anyone with experience if they know I can get a deal. swirler
Love that site tbh I got my copies from Nuuvem for $30, needed to use a VPN to make the purchase, its region free (it'll be printed in RED CAPS ON THE PAGE if its really region locked). Used them plenty and they are awesome, I even made a cheeky purchase of a game marked REGION LOCKED and they refunded me. With that being said, I regret not buying it thru steam, the overlay and screencap is so nice and the game is absolutely worth the money. I love a good deal, but sometimes its worth spending, this is one of those times. WellsMcK
TheMostKnowledgable
Just get it on steam. Do it for Rockstar. They get the greatest percentage there UNLESS you buy it from the Warehouse, however then you don't get Steam Overlay and I don't know if there is a fix for it coming or not! Get it on steam, wait a little bit or WATCH G2A.COM for "STEAM GLOBAL" keys. Good deals to be had on that site, I've had no issues with a good fifteen games so far, but never anything so new as GTA V, but you never know. Steam bro, get it on steam - rather than 7 discs of degrading-over-time metalics and plastics vs potentially timed activity of other digital vendors - steam isn't going anywhere soon and arguably one could say that steam is about to heavily pressure the console market - go with steam, your purchase is safe there and you get perks of steam community, broadcasting, friends, etc. Dlgamer if you trust them, after the second post, I will take a look! Thanks for the tip, for future shopping =) Edited April 18, 2015 by TheMostKnowledgable WellsMcK and Kaito Katsumi

Do it for Rockstar, give them 70% of Money instead of 100%! Man you really do like pushing Steam, do you have shares in it or something? swirler
I have never used G2A myself, but have noticed the name come up in several places and not really in a good way ^_^ They are well priced for sure, but it seems they dont always get the codes ethically - allegedly! I know late last year Ubisoft(Uplay) did a mass banning and G2A customers were affected. Nuuvem is usually very cheap, Origin (India, which sadly isthereanydeal.com dont track) can be stupidly cheap also. (EDIT: for eg, 2 weeks ago I got Simcity complete edition for €11 via Origin India. Origin are wise to many using South America now tho, so they passed their billing to another company which require proof of residency in SA, so thats kinda out!) Valve is a private company, steampowered it's theirs, they don't trade. That's what I said after the quote "UNLESS you buy it from warehouse" Later I showed indeed I support steam for its perks - currently, warehouse version can't support steam overlay, somethign I like a lot and sure others do, it really is my PC platform of choice and I like to be allowed to "expect" the overlay to work. Not just steam though do I support, I support Gabe Newell, and all of the Newelly things that he stands for. Who's the gman, bro? Who's the gman?<3 hl3 confirmed. Thanks for the tip, for future shopping =) Yeah, I probably will buy it on Steam then. That's where the few PC gaming friends I have play. The overlay is really only important to me when it comes to inviting friends in games. Which I'm not sure that GTA V does. I usually buy games on sale on Steam. But after seeing how amazing it runs on PC compared to my PS3, I need to buy it. It's just so smooth, and I can still play it with a PS3 controller. Thanks for the replies guys. swirler and TheMostKnowledgable

There is no downside to retail as you get a digital copy as well so if anything happens you still own the game, for Steam Overlay couldnt you add it as a non steam game? swirler
The discs will probably still be around chilling with the cockroaches after WW3, but Id still opt for digital only, just so I dont add to the already massive pile of "stuff" I have. I thought about that with the Steam Overlay. And I realize it doesn't do anything special for me. I've turned it off before and been fine with it. So that's not even a concern for me. But I realize I do like how easy it is when you have a new computer and you just have steam download all your games for you. Plus it will tell people when you are playing it. And it's easy to find out which friends have the game too.
