Take that seriously. Coz those temps are high. http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/Is a useful app, it'll monitor and rec your temps and you can set it to shut down if things get too hot. As standard, chips do that anyway, but they cut it VERY close, Id skim at least 5C off the supposed max allowed temp. (Also NOTE if you dl that app, pay attention to what your hitting next on! Theres some nonsense crap in with it, but you can just hit skip, you only want Core Temp)

I bought a 5+ grand alienware in 2004 (not incl monitor! And before I had the good sense to start building my own), it had an AMD cpu (the only one Ive ever owned) at a time when AMD were beating Intel, but it ran extremely hot. I had crashes over it and when I contacted customer service they said its normal and not to worry. It BURNT out! Im talkin scorch marks! There were scorch marks on the ear of the poor unfortunate individual who had to deal with my call afterwards (refund!).

Take out the heatsink and blow all the dust out. and put only a light thermal paste on cpu

If my CPU ever reached that temp I'd immediately stop what I was doing and let it cool off, tbh... 120C is really pushing it, even for AMD chips. I'd recommend getting some compressed air and cleaning the heat sink off, and possibly getting a better cooler...

120 degrees celsius is too hot even for AMD CPU's. CPUs these days shouldn't exceed 90 degrees celsius anyways thanks to games being increasingly more dependent on GPU, and also die shrinks.

Sounds like sh*t cooling to me.

120 Celsius? Be glad the PC didn't explode yet you are still alive!

Open the case and clean it from dust (nope, ccleaner doesn't work for this).

And be sure fans are running ok.

I had the same problem with my FX-8350. tempetures went up to 85 degrees and probaly above. i was getting crashes everytime because of the heat. than i cleaned my cpu fan, turned off alot of options like cool and quiet, but i couldnt figure it out. i had all my settings on normal or off, and still crashed because the heat..

so i decided to replace my pc to a open location and now it runs good with no tempatures above 70 degrees.

the problem was that my fan was blowing hot air against the inside of my pc.. and my second fan was trying to get all the hot air out my pc but because it was in a bad location it didnt work..

so i removed the sidepanel so the hot air of my cpu could get away and there was enough room for the air to flow.. now its all solved..

Thanks people for the replys been googling and I think the answer is thermal paste is needed as inside is clean I clean it once a week with canned air and clean all fan blades with wipes. Idle its average is 56 so still high so think paste is needed

My FX-8350 starts to throttle at 64-65 degrees. That temps are seriously not normal!

Reseat the heat sink with good thermal paste... if it's idling at 56c it sounds like the heatsink isn't working at all. Turn all of your fans to 100%, if you can't control the speed through the bios or through software, hard wire the fans to 12v, especially the case fans and even the CPU fan if you have to.

You must have a scorched area around your cpu socket. Dunno about your WC solution, I use a $32 Cooler Master Hyper212 Evo air cooler with my FX8350 and never see temps above 60c when using Prime95.

They're not great temps even now, but at least he doesnt have to live in fear of his machine pyro'ing his house down anymore.

I agree that any of the lil cooler master air flow ones do a great job and are inexpensive.

I do love my Noctuas those, ulgy as f*ck, but so cool and quiet. Even my 3770k which everyone bitched how hot it ran, with a reasonable OC of 4.4 it PEAKS at 68C

Buy yourself a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo or a water cooler. ;)

On behalf of the internet...

I have an FX8320 and it KILLS with this game! No overheating because I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 heatsink. It's a beast.

Anyway, are you sure you get 120 Celsius and not 120 Ferinheight? I usually get around 60 to 70 Celsius when gaming, which is like 130 Ferinheight...

120 Celsius is like 200 Ferinheight, which is basically melting temperature.

My advice: do ANYTHING to get better airflow. Get a better heatsink and clean dust right away!

My FX8320 only reaches 50C max.

When I bought it I was getting 80C with Prime 95, what I did?

1. Clean all the dust from my PC

2. Undervolted the CPU a bit.

3. Bought a Case fan so it extracts hot air (Case came with a front fan so now I have a decent air flow).

4. Cable management.

5. Configured Speedfan so whenever it reaches 50C, the cpu fan goes from 50% to 100%, so it maintains it below 50C.

Before doing all this, my CPU was 55C idle, now its 23C. And im with the sh*tty stock AMD fan.

At full load i get like 65-72 Celcius and never rly goes up than tht

That still sounds crazy hot. Are you overclocking? What CPU is it?

My FX8320 is OC'd to 4.6ghz with an H100i water cooler and I got it fine tuned it never goes over 62c on the socket/cpu. Even with no LLC on my motherboard and high idle voltage (1.5v) it still only idles at 36c but yours idles at 40? Something is still wrong with your setup if your temps are that high with a water cooler. You live in the desert? lol.

$50 water-block+radiator kit and some AS5 or T3 paste is 100% guaranteed to fix your problem and even allow some OC..

For fans go by reviews. I know AS5, T3, and Indigo Extreme have the best reviews and lab tests..

AMD has an edge in finance not in compute-power and efficiency..

He said he did get a watercooler and still idles at 40c and tops at 70c...
