So...how can you do it? Wouldn't you just get shot to pieces everywhere you go?

I always thought the typical convention was to complete them before the gangs want to rip off Claude's head and sh*t down his neck.

The way you worded the question it sounded like you wondered if it was even possible, which it is. The mission is still available, it's just incredibly difficult.

Nothing's changed here. :p

True. You're *supposed* to play III with careful planning, and if you're smart, you'd do Paramedics Level 12 right after Luigi's Girls early in the game. Same with most of the stuff in GTA III, you should be doing a Starter Save and getting to 50% before the 3rd Story Mission in the game...

If you want, you can make the Ambulance Damageproof (DP) or you can make it a Ghost, thus driving through buildings to get to Patients earlier, you won't accidentally run them over since you're a Ghost, etc...Bullets will just pass through the Ambulance, since you're a Ghost. It could be easier for someone who isn't very good at the task, but I just do it the normal way, but at the beginning of the game....

Can you make a bullet proof Ambulance?

Yes, but only on PC. Trying this glitch on the other versions (Xbox, PS2) will most likely f*ck up your save.

Lol, no it doesn't. You use the Crusher to make a Ghost, but if you put the Vehicle in your Garage, it makes the Vehicle completely DP (Damage Proof) and any crashing will not harm the car and it'll stay 100% health. But it's not resistant to bullets, fires, or explosions...

You can convert any Vehicle pretty much into a Ghost and then into DP form once put in the Garage. It just doesn't work with Motorcycles or Helicopters (In LCS) and large Vehicles like the Fire Truck, Tank, etc, etc...

But you do not park it in the garage. You complete the "Paramedic" mission while collision detection is disabled for the ambulance. That way it is effectively bullet proof but gang members can still pull you out of it.

True. I am just saying you can put the Ambulance in the Garage and convert it to DP. It can remain a Ghost for as long as you don't put it in the Garage, too. But regardless, this does NOT corrupt or or f*ck up the Save as you were saying earlier...

Oh now that sounds fun. Playing this on my Galaxy and dealing with the clunky auto aim brings me back to the old days. Thank you Militia for the ghosting info. :)

Doing the "Taxi Driver" glitch with emergency vehicles can do that apparently. It can disable the "Taxi Driver" mission completely apparently. On PC this is avoidable by using the "look behind" button(s) instead of the "side mission" trigger button. Using the latter button caused the aforementioned glitch in one of the Chain Game rounds. From what I remember it can happen on the console versions as well, at least on the Xbox one.

I don't know about the mobile versions. On Android you can only perform the glitch by holding the "side mission" button and the same problem probably occurs when you try to do it with an ambulance.

I can't speak for Mobile. I also can't speak for PC. I play III on a physical PS2 disc, played on my backward compatible PS3...

Taxi Missions or the Ghost/DP Vehicle doesn't harm the game at all. Been doing it for years, on 3 Save Files to 100% and not once did anything bad happen.

Plus, I always have a backup. If I lose a Special Vehicle ever, I reload a Previous Save...

Wait, what? Can you use the "Taxi Driver" glitch on the ambulance on the PS2 version and it works OK? Do you hold the "side mission" button while you do it?

I should get the PS2 version myself but I already own like a million copies of GTA games that I don't know if it's even worth it. I should probably get the special edition of SA though unless it's ridiculously expensive.

What happens, as I tried it also on a Police Car to make DP so I can do Vigilante in the SAME Police Car instead of changing them up due to damaging them too much, the Taxi AND Vigilante got activated. I am assuming the Taxi AND the Paramedics would also get activated simultaneously. However, I think it's because of how I pressed the buttons on the controller. I got it one time where both Side Missions did NOT activate, only Taxi. But other times, I got both Side Missions activating at the same time. I got the very first edition PS2 copy of III...

Yeah, I never am into owning the game on multiple platforms all with different versions. I tend to stick to the originals, not those Platinum, Special Edition ones. I got the original first press PS2 copies if III, VC, SA, LCS, VCS all in perfect condition. No scratches, nothing wrong. As if I bought them today in a store. I got a touch of OCD, so I keep my things pristine...

I think when both get activated simultaneously is when the glitch happens where the "Taxi Driver" mission gets disabled. Perhaps it doesn't happen on the PS2 but it happens on PC.

I'm not even sure that it is possible to use the taxi glitch on a police vehicle on the PC version. I remember trying that for another possible video tutorial and it didn't work for some reason.

Yeah, I never really messed with the Ambulance or Police Car cuz I just pass both Vigilante 20 Kills Per Island and Paramedics Level 12 without doing anything special. I just do them both the normal way you're supposed to. But I do it all early before I am hated by Gangs, and especially the Leone Mafia...

Yeah, each Version is a little different. Some things are better on PC, but some things are better on PS2, etc. In ALL GTA's this is the case. For instance, on PC, there is a Mission Replay Feature, which allows for some UNOBTAINABLE Special Vehicles in Vice City, to be obtainable. BUT ONLY ON PC! No other platform, since no Mission Replay Feature. Same for III, there is an EP/EC Securicar in the Mission before "Decoy" (Blanking on name right now) where on PC, you can use a Mission Replay/Vigilante Glitch to get it SO easy. But on PS2, it's much, much, much, much harder to get.

But then in SA, there is an AP Infernus in the Mission "Beatdown on B-Dup" which is horrendous to get on PC, yet it's a 1 star difficulty on PS2. It all just depends really. It's easy in PS2, cuz CJ actually can be moved in the cutscene, unlike PC and any other SA Version, actually. Even Greatest Hits, Platinum, etc Versions on PS2 don't contain this exploit...

Can you make a bullet proof Ambulance?

I hate to self advertise, but you can make a bulletproof Ambulance with the Save File Editor that I just released. Just put the Ambulance in one of your garages and make it bulletproof with the editor.

Personally, I prefer to do the Ambulance missions on Portland before the Mafia are angry at Claude. It think it's easier that way, plus it doesn't involve cheating. :^:

Does the Save Editor make Heavy Vehicles?! :p My favorite. Or is it just the usual, BP/DP/EP/FP properties?

I am not using it, I just want to know. Plus it probably only works for PC and I got the PS2 disc.

It does not, unfortunately, as the "Heavy" property cannot be stored in garages in GTA III.

The editor only works for PC at the moment, but I plan to adapt it to work with PS2 saves eventually. :p

Yeah, Heavy properties only store in LCS and VCS for some bizarre reason. However, since YOU were able to do some magic and make the Portland Safehouse Garage store more than 1 Vehicle by changing the Garage Type, I figured your Save Editor can also do other magic and make Heavy Vehicles and stuff that usually can't be done, etc. Still, though, sounds like a good and fun editor... :p

Holy sh*t, that's awesome!

I actually just put my BC PS3 Game Saves for III, VC, SA, LCS, and VCS onto my physical PS2 Memory Card. I do not ever want to lose them if my PS3 would go under. It's up there in age, however I took massively good care of it and didn't even game for a whole 5 years from 2008 (when I got it) to 2013, when GTA V was released in September 2013. So it had a long time to sit without even being played. But I invested a megaton of time into my Saves, so I never want to lose them.

I got things on my PS3, then backed up on my Computer, USB, and Memory Card for the 3D Titles. For IV, TLaD, TBoGT, and V, those Saves are on my Computer and USB Drive with the rest of them.

Still figuring out how to get my Chinatown Wars Save onto my PC to back it up and I would also store it on a USB Drive, too, with the rest of the GTA Game Saves...

Cool man, backing up is good!

My editor is still a work in-progress, for the most part, so editing of specific garage types hasn't been implemented... yet. But who knows, with more investigation, there might be a way to "store" Heavy vehicles with the editor. Consider what I posted in the Unique Vehicle Guide thread:

Interestingly, I just found out storing a Rhino spawned by the cheat in a save garage actually does not put it into a garage at all. Instead, its data is located in an entirely different part of the save file, which explains why spawned Rhinos never disappear. Through save editing, it's possible to change this vehicle to be any vehicle you want! So, in theory, you can have any vehicle you want remain permanently on the map without needing to put it in your garage!

I'm thinking that, if I can locate where the immunities are stored, it might be possible to spawn a Heavy vehicle in this manner -- without using a garage at all.

This is all terribly off topic, sorry for that. Moderators, please forgive me! :nervous:

I always thought the typical convention was to complete them before the gangs want to rip off Claude's head and sh*t down his neck.

Recommended actually. Much easier to be fireproof and have the pills spawning around actually. In fact, you should do the 10 Vigilant, Paramedic and 100 Taxi Missions before you complete Sayonara Salvatore. That'd help you avoid all the shooting from Leones. You can easily evade the Triads. Diablos don't hate you till you're off doing the Yardie Missions.

Claude isn't Fireproof in GTA III. This is only true in VC, SA, LCS, VCS, and CTW. This doesn't exist in III, IV, TLaD, TBoGT, or V.

I don't see how the ambulance can resist 12 levels from the Triads' gunfire, even if they carry baseball bats and pistols. I mean I remember years ago I tried doing Paramedic in Staunton Island and the Colombians shot at me several times with their pistols and uzis, my ambulance exploded on level 6 or 7 and I rarely crashed the ambulance. Diablos are no threat at all because all they carry is baseball bats, nothing else. But yeah the mafia will destroy pretty much any car in 2-3 hits with their damn shotguns. So the best way is to do Paramedic at beginning of the game in Portland BEFORE any gang hates you.

Although, if you manage to gain early access to Staunton Island, the Colombians will open fire on you, even if you have started a new game.

Colombians also plague SSV. They hate you in a NEW GAME there as well. It's not just in SI. III is easy if you have the mind to actually plan instead of mash buttons and play through the Story as if your ass is on fire. You need to plan everything out and it's HIGHLY recommended to do a Starter Save. You simply pass Give Me Liberty, then immediately followed by Luigi's Girls. Once you pass Luigi's Girls and store the EC Teal Kuruma in Portland Garage, then you work your way to 50-52% Game Completion BEFORE ANY OTHER STORY MISSIONS. Makes life easier if you just use your brain and actually plan stuff out.
