Wolfmeister1010
Am I the only one who thinks that the world is still EXTREMELY sparsely populated? Even in the city. I turned the settings for population and variety all the way down and there was no difference big enough to consider that it was anything other than the natural movement and commute of people and vehicles. Barely ANYONE walks around. Just like on the PS3 version. Is this something that people can mod? I hope so.. Also nodders should attend to the disappointingly low resolution textures, blood effects, and poor tessellation even with everything maxed out... SirPhilMcKraken
I think the textures are actually pretty damn good. I'm not running it on max and the game looks brilliant. Also traffic changes depending on time of day also. sometimes I willl have a fair amount. Were you expecting traffic jams or something?
Kampret
Wait... the world is still less populated than it is in GTA IV?

Textures seem fine to me, especially considering this is a large open world game which is the last game you would expect high quality textures in. Notably the vegatation. Wolfmeister1010
Well not necessarily traffic jams lol. The car situation is better than the pedestrian situation. I mean I know the hardware can't reimagine cities with realistic pops..that is impossible..well actually AC Unity... But anyway, I think someone should make a mod that like doubles the amount of pedestrians walking around. It gets VERY empty even in the city parts. Of course maybe it is just cuz the city feels like a cardboard cutout because there are like no interiors and windows are plastered with pathetic textures. Also, To be honest, the whole "open world games automatically get a pass on poorer graphics" thing isn't really valid. I mean, GTA5 on last gen was like the best looking last gen game. And games like Witcher 3 and AC Unity are spectacular looking open world games. But anyway, this game is gorgeous, I know that. Just a mod idea for those with beast systems! P.S, thanks for being understanding and not flaming guys.I expected you GTA forumers to be pretty mean (because my first experience in GTA online had people calling others ugly, fat, and interestingly enough, dinosaurs, which I guess means ugly) but you guys are super informative I think so much time was spent making the AI, physics, and behaviors so great that they didn't have much time to really make the city itself pop. Once you get out of your car, the sidewalks and alleys are pretty bland. And thats where modders come in! Well..if we ever are able to mod GTA5 Edited April 18, 2015 by Wolfmeister1010
lydianduck
All texture options look 'bland' except for 'very high', I noticed. Edited April 18, 2015 by lydianduck
swirler
I was kinda thinking there should be a little more going on. I played GTA IV for the first time maybe 2 months ago and finished it the other week, Id often be driving between an endless stream of cars. Ped level isnt terrible in V. I wouldnt mind a slight increase on both fronts tho.
TheMostKnowledgable
Turn down your textures and shadow to low, then report back. Any difference if you do that? I'm not saying to keep it like that, but do you get more people and cars with those settings lowered to minimum?
LankanComrade
Ever been to Chicago ? That real world city gives a valid reason for the lack of pedestrians. Edited April 18, 2015 by LankanComrade
JeffSFC
I agree. I thought the density sliders to full would populate the world more than they do.
cdgl
of course there wont be enough pedestrians theres decades to go before a CPU can handle a real life city population
bensons
I actually want to get rid of car traffic is there a cheat for this at all?

K20
Barely ANYONE walks around. Just like on the PS3 version. i get so many peds sometimes that the vehicles gets stuck because of all the corpses. maybe its your pc/optimisation

I doubt that's on the same scale given the speed and size of cars and all that. Hitman Blood Money had the mardi gras festival packed with people but they used tricks to get that. So it's not like it's anything new to see streets packed with people, but just because it's in one game doesn't mean it's possible in another. I also want to say that ACU has much smaller area than what's meant to be a big modern city....which would have to be able to render all the people packed from however far away and at whatever speeds you can travel at... emcax24
i think theres a texture bug in this game. i notice that there seems to be a mismatch of low and high resolution textures sometimes. for instance i had textures on normal once and all the cars looked like they had bump mapping and super high res textures but everything else looked like ps3. so i restart the game with highest textures and i can't see any cars with bump mapping on the textures anymore, everything is just glossy shiny finish,
K.Walters
Mhh. what are you talking about? I put the density and variety all the way up and I get loads of traffic with many different cars. I see 2 maybe 3 of the same cars. Most of the time every car I see is a different one. When you turn it down it becomes the PS3/XB360 version. Also it looks like the variety and density is not maxed Online. From what I can tell those settings are not affecting Online.

Yes but AC Unity is an old setting with narrow streets we're talking New York, times square kind of population, Los Angeles would have to be hundred of thousands to achieve such a realistic setting, which wont happen for a long time
