kingmustard
I play dozens of PC games regulary but Grand Theft Auto 5 is the only one I have to turn up my speakers 25% in order to get it to the same level as the other games/other programs on my PC. The sound levels are at 100% in-game. This is a game issue, not my system. Anyone have any ideas?
Phyxsius-
Normal sounds kinda sorta, but it does seem that my radio and car sound are slightly lower - Asus Xonar DS card, with headphones and "stereo speakers" setting. Too troublesome to move all my 5.1 surround from downstairs to check what the problem is, so I`ll leave it as it is - "meh" level
r0llinlacs
I'm with you. I have to turn my receiver up to 30 and with other games I only have to turn it up to 20 for the same level of sound. Doesn't matter if the receiver is set to stereo/surround or if the game is set to stereo/surround, it's still quieter than everything else. Shayd80
weird, mine is loud. Yesterday i was playing with friends on skype and i had to turn the volume of the game at 5 / 100 to be able to hear them clearly with the windows volume mixer but i've seen people complaining about this too so i guess you're not the only one
mudajama
Now that you say it. Yeah it is quiet. Huh. Weird
r0llinlacs
I always notice because I don't particularly like having to reach over to turn up the volume every time I play the game. Then, when I'm done playing I have to make sure I turn it back down so I don't blast my ears out the next time I play something different, even movies and music are much louder. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but in for future reference for the thread: Mobo has Realtek ALC1150 7.1 Purity Sound, I'm using the optical output In windows I have the sound set to 24bit 96khz All sounds are set to maximum except dialogue boost, but it's not the dialogue that's quiet. If I turn on dialogue boost, the dialogue is much louder than the rest of the game. Edited April 18, 2015 by r0llinlacs
umairbasit
Yeah, the sound on GTA V is quite low, this was the first thing I noticed when I played it on PS3. Same thing on PS4 as well sound is very low. And now on PC the same thing. I have to turn my tv volume to 30-35 to have normal experience, whereas other games only require 13-15 volume. nyolc8
Same here, I have to turn up volume to 30-40% while other games sound level is nice at ~20%.
Lexus.V
same here, my game is quiet too, but if I set "80% volume" it's OK so I don't care
GN 92
And I believe that's something that can't be fixed easily, right?
kingmustard
And I believe that's something that can't be fixed easily, right? They just need to increase the overall internal volume.
Deuce Deuce
The reason is probably due to the sound design team wanting more "cinematic" audio. If they cranked the volume up to near 0db, louder scenes wouldn't have the same impact and would distort / clip unless they heavily compressed the audio (which would kill the dynamics). For example, police helicopter shootouts sound much louder than if you were just walking in the countryside. If it was all the same volume there would be no headroom for the louder scenes. I could be wrong, but that's my theory. Either way, it doesn't really bother me. Edited April 22, 2015 by Deuce Deuce
