I support you OP. My whole friends list has similar issues. So does the randoms that I join and who join me. It's exactly as you say, the folks that are posting unsupportive comments are probably freeroamers or "casuals". They know nothing.

I wish R* cooperate with portforward.com to produce a nice tutorial about the nat type and port forwarding. I followed their guide (BT hub and GTA V), and I think these connection problems stopped :D

What guide - can you link it for me Please

...or they're just people not experiencing the majority of the issues OP has laid out. There's a lot of them too.

Had some issues when Heists first dropped but not since,

OP, try plugging in a cable and ditch the wireless

Hey guys lets try and help OP's cause. Forget the appreciation threads and cash card conspiracies for a second and please upvote his support ticket.

64 upvotes now, more support gathered, more needed.

Have you ever tried to rejoin a playlist midway through? Then you get the 'Player no longer in session' message, right? Frustrating isn't it? Ever been In a lobby and tried to invite a friend to join you from 'invite friends', most of them show no rank number next to their name and when you click it it tells you they haven't completed the tutorial yet so the invites are disabled until they do so!

Answered 'Yes' to either of those most common issues? Then upvote this ticket and let Rockstar* know "We're mad as HELL and we're not going to take it any more!"

Thanks for your concern.

Mr. Scratch

As far as I know the current gen versions aren't nearly as janky as last gen. There's a very big chance that they won't even be fixed at all. Why focus on outdated consoles and your previous games *cough IV, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, Midnight Club cough* when you've got all this shinny new tech!

Supported. Stopped playing the game as a result of this mess.

Looks like the PC version is suffering from exactly the same issues too. Those poor bastards think it will be patched in a week.

I had a friend move from ps3 to ps4 last week and he says even though it was diabolical on ps3, this problem is a lot worse on ps4 compared to ps3. Sounds like PC users are receiving similar problems so I can only assume it's similar on xbox1.

I don't have any of the problems mentioned by the OP.

Awesome, count yourself lucky.

How about supporting the community and up vote the ticket anyway.

It's the same on all systems. It's the source code. It cannot be fixed, it's the source code. I don't know how else to put this, but it's core in the game, its part of the game, it's on all the disks, it cannot be 'replaced' or 'changed'.

I don't know why people think it can be changed, it can't. All that can be done is minor tweaks, the game is already out.

I'm getting really tired of these discussions. A patch is just a patch. It's limited to what it can do, it's a bandage, not major surgery. The online game is an .exe, It's not going to be changed as it cannot be changed. It's the equivalent of hard coded.

In order to change it, they would have to recall every single game disk, have everyone delete the game, send a new disk out with an updated code, then re-install.

And still people think that two years after launch that Rockstar don't know about the issues. And some magical patch can just fix everything.

I do, I guess. It's just a video game lol

The "community" is full of childish brats. No thanks.

Maybe when I stop seeing "cockstar sucks" every five minutes.

I think these people should just play a different game since they hate it so much.

Lol at the three replies above.

This ain't got anything to do with user end connections. If you go into your friends list in gta online and click on you friends individually, for 95% of them you will see that the message invite/join game (disabled). Then click on the invite/join game and you will see a further message saying something like - unable to join session or invite player as the other player has not completed the tutorial. If you don't believe me go check for youselves. this is a rockstar issue. It happened for a while on last gen but it was patched. So to people saying it's in the "core" game that is bs. This is about networking which is fixable.

We keep trying to play the game because we like the game.

We hate the sh*t connectivity issues.

We hate the problems with invites.

We don't hate the game, the game hates us.

Very briefly there appeared to be a breakthrough, for the briefest of moments I though "My God, R* have fixed something, they've actually gotten off their arse and fixed something!" as players were able to re-join playlists midway through even if they disconnected from them. Alas, that sadly lasted a single day. Now it's back to the same old 'player no longer in session' BS, even if I host the playlist from a crew or friend lobby. And still apparently 95% of my friends have not completed the online tutorial so I cannot invite them to my session using the in-game menu. :-(

It's time to face facts. This game is BROKEN online. Maybe it's the crappy source code to blame like monkeymonk continually attests, but who wrote the source code? That's right, Rockstar* did, so if they source code is insufficient to handle the vast quantities of data required to be sent between this sh*tty P2P networking system, that is on THEM. It's time they stop trying to blame half the players of the world and their 'insufficient' ISP's and face facts. This is THEIR problem and only THEY can fix it.

Again, keep supporting this R* help thread, considering the amount of people this issue affects I'm appalled at the fact only 77 people actually upvoted the thing! :-(

Maybe it's a much smaller issue then you actually think.

Maybe people have decided to instead of blaming Rockstar, try and follow some of their advice or do a bit of reading and follow the advice of people on forums such as GTAF.

The information does not need to come from Rockstar for it to be right.

Can the don't blame R* crowd answer this one question for me?

What part of my setup would cause the game to think that at level 141 I have not completed the tutorial?

Error connecting to the cloud. Restart and will fix issues. Not Rockstar, ISP or simply small line error not big enough to be noticed by ISp or user but big enough to corrupt load data.

Analysing, analysing...

Well, it's up to 51 upvotes now, not bad but we can do MUCH better! It takes two seconds and Rockstar will not fix ANYTHING unless we hassle them, so take a moment and do your part to help your fellow community please. :-)

Also, bear in mind the support ticket doesn't tell the whole story, as well as those issues there are frankly awful problems with invites and matchmaking as stated in the OP.

https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/communities/public/questions/203348848-GTAVO-Joining-sessions-and-playlists

Thanks

I just clicked on the link and upvoted it. Took only 30 seconds. I am surprised it has only 77 votes.

The delays are getting worse all the time, and heist joining is becoming a sick, ridiculous joke.:angry::angry:

Prior to heists, I was doing fine-tuned contact mission grinding (do the easy solo missions in 3 minutes, then use a timer to clock out at exactly 15 minutes for max payout while I did useful real world stuff while getting paid by Rockstar), and the gradualling increasing wait times just getting out of one mission and into the next one were already increasing my frustration due to the lowered grinding efficiency.

EDIT: Heists are actually fun, but I'm about to go back to full-time grinding until this mess is worked out.

How can they not fix this most fundamental problem???

So I, and the friends I cannot connect with, have this error every time we play? What would cause that?

So all three hundred of my active psn friends who play gta have all mysteriously started receiving user end issues, which is only affecting there ability to play gtao?? Lol, please.

Er, 'Alarming', I think you've spent too much time in that damn cloud, you've literally left the planet! :-) You really, honestly think that everyone being unable to invite their friends and being told that person needs to do the tutorial can be fixed simply by 'turning it off and back on again'? Prior to the heist update this was a non-issue. Now, it's causing people to turn off the game in disgust. And guess what? When they turn it back on again they STILL can't invite their damn friends. Please, stop blindly defending R*, try it for yourself and report back with your findings, thanks.

I can force the issue by shutting down with the game loaded. Not doing the proper way of closing the app but rather turn off the ps4 or putting it into rest mode.

This, if anyone ever owned/use a pc is the wrong way to shut down and often needs a restart.

Maybe on Gta it corrupts the game save or keeps old data of the servers instead of properly resetting the cache.

Nothing in my setup has changed, I have the same ISP with the same modem and the same router. It worked fine for months, now I have any issue. So once again, how is it a user problem, not a R* problem?

Also, if it's a user problem why would it exist across all 5 platforms, PS3, PS4, XBox, XBox1, and PC?

Okay, I have a genuine question for all you tech-heads out there regarding my setup and why I don't seem to be able to rejoin in-session playlists nor others can rejoin me when I'm hosting them.

I am connected directly from my PS4 to a router via a CAT 5 cable that is right next to each other. I have a static IP address for my PS4 and the PS4 is in turn in DMZ mode. My internet speed and ping is below:

4332331720.png

Bear in mind the speedtest was done on an upstairs PC that is connected to the router by a 30m extension cable so the PS4 ought to be a tad quicker, surely? Bearing all this in mind, please, explain to me WHY I am experiencing these problems even with this seemingly optimum setup? Also bear in mind I get next to NO problems with ANY other game!

Also, the 'player has not completed the tutorial yet' glitch is a widespread and very well known R* issue, only THEY can fix it, that much has been clearly established, so it's pointless arguing its something we can fix ourselves.

I''ll be really interested to hear your responses.
