Voice chat in free-roam annoys PC players?

I guess I should mention that GTA-V on XBox One was really my first console game I played online.

I remember being surprised how much the game-voice-chat was used, but apparently I've acclimated to it and now the lack of voice chat in the PC free-roam is just as surprising.

So i really don't have the experience to say frequent use of voice chat is a xbox thing, or a gta thing, but it's definitely not a pc gta thing.

GTA Master 007

The pc fanbase has mostly older players (what I'm trying to say is that more older than younger on pc vs consoles which are opposite; more younger than older). Most pc players are ignorant elitist gamers who try to express themselves as nerds (because it gives the impression of higher intelligence to others) but they just end up being stuck up hipsters and most of the console fanbase are either kids (because its popular for them I guess) or people who have a reason to be gaming on consoles. (They are many reasons to game on consoles though pc might sound so mighty, think about that before you judge a console player. Each one of us has our own preference/s.)

With that said, yes I'm a pc gamer who also owns a console. An xbox 360. I would get a ps4 if gta 6 is announced and releasing, because I know the game would be released a few years later on pc and I care more about gta then what f*cking platform I play it on.

Nothing pleasent or useful ever comes from game chat. Set chat to friends+crew and keep it that way for the rest of your life

seem like im one of the few people that actually enjoy having people talking sh*t and stuff in freeroam.

im cool with everything except playing music over the mic

That's because you're normally listening to the tears of people you've destroyed!

I honestly expected PC users to be more social than console users.

I presume they're older, more mature therefore more civil.

My experience so far is they're just higher on the autism spectrum.

I've actually found it to be more social and pleasant (at least in social terms) than consoles. Not so much with voice chat since mine defaulted to friends/crew from consoles but typing to people has proven to be a pleasant experience.

A simple thread about voice chat turned into a discussion about autism. Gotta love the Internet.

I definitely tell people who publicly chat in free roam to shut up, especially if they're talking in a foreign language. If they talk about something that is actually relevant or ask legitimate questions, then I'm o with it. But people who yell, laugh about meaningless sh*t, talk very loudly or keep tapping their mics - they annoy me very much so.

Though to be honest, it's not their fault. It was stupid of R* to implement a global chat for free roam. A local positional chat would have been much more sensible.

Everytime this happens in a public lobby, I just blast deathcore till they shut the f*ck up or leave.

Really. Nobody wants to hear yours, or anyone else's sh*tty music.

I'm not an American, I'm Israeli, but English is the de facto international language and it's dominant in the internet. I believe that the majority of GTA Online players know English, therefore it makes sense for it be considered the default language.

Usually when non-English languages are spoken, they're spoken among 2-4 players at most, and as within my previous point, I don't believe that global voice chat is the place for personal/group talks.

I don't want to hear anyone when doing freeroam. But then you can set your chat to 'nobody' or 'friends only'. So anyone shouting that you should shut up is a douchebag.

No...someone shouldn't have to change their settings or mute anyone, people should have some goddamn courtesy and not be an asshole on the mic...

Asshole on mic = asshole on mic is an asshole NOT the guy telling him to shut the f*ck up

What language is this message board and how many different countries are it's members from? Yeah, I thought so...

Haven't tried GTA for the PC yet, but from my experience as a PC user I've learned I don't mind chatter if people are organizing or working together to do something in the game such as giving orders or inquiring something. PC was pretty civil and to the point.

Console? Crap... You have kids singing, rapping, and making noises for no reason. A lot think everyone else in the session is a homosexual and they announce it over and over. Then there are those that play their own music and I hear it over their mic. Some even take phone calls on speaker phone.

I stick to invite-only lobbies. Hearing freemode sessions is maddening to me. Can't wait to make the PC switch.

Someone mentioned chat being a common feature used in PC gaming, but since I plan on playing with a controller I'd rather talk over the mic than type. After I purchase a new monitor I may look into getting a service monkey that sits on my desk and dictates for me.

Good luck with your text chat once you start doing heists.

When people get obnoxious on the mic I mute them. Over.

No reason to anoy the whole lobby to retaliate against one person who doesn't care about you trying to troll them.

Having to select a player to mute is something I have never had to do on the PC. Console? It's just easier to play with people you know. Otherwise, you mute everyone, basically. It becomes annoying and tedious.

Why would text chat during heists be a problem? Mic would be preferable, but I rocked at it with IL-2 Sturmovik.

What pisses me off with mic's during heists is the people having their mic's on and losing due to a total lack of communication. I can hear myself talking because their mic is picking up their earpieces. Everyone in the session has a mic on, but they won't talk. Doing heists with randoms is a waste of time because people do not know how not to die. I wish people would talk more. They may not die as much if they communicate a little. I have no problem with an inexperienced player, but at least let me help you win. If you lose then so do I.

I really enjoy how the PC community seems to be against screaming into their mic's.

Then again, I assume that it is because they don't have a bunch of tweens like the Xbox One community

People i've met always stop to have a chat with me, had the entire lobby of 16 talking before about best sports cars so we had a meet up of all our favourites and no one blew anything up and we had a 2 person drag race, winner plays winner type deal, its was fun. I've always found PC people to me happier to talk than console.

I figured it out. Console users basically cannot type effectively so they are forced to use their voice. over time they become more comfortable being social vocally as they're pushed outside of their comfort zone.

Because it is so easy to type on a computer the users are never pushed outside of their comfort zone and so never learn how to communicate with strangers in a more intimate way.

I always invite the whole lobby to my apartment in Paleto Bay just to see who I can trick into coming.

I always get one to five players in console, and almost never anyone in PC. Probably for the same reason. People stay shy on PC because they can.

In a lot of ways I've found pc to be more social than consoles. Maybe it's that we all have to use a keyboard to begin with so it's easier to transition to voice for a lot of people (if you do) and a lot of 12 year olds can't really be assed to type that much.

I'd go more with consoles are more accessible and therefore pull in the lowest common denominator. PC players tend to be a bit more discerning than most console.

...Xbone has kinect chat. Which is by far the most annoying thing on the planet.

Xbone has Kinect, it also has party chat which lets you decide who to talk / listen to.

It's the most amazing thing on the planet!

I have noticed that PC players are a lot more mature, somewhat... mostly, possibly. I do still come across the annoying "I have to kill you just because" people. Not as annoying as they are on 360 though.

I actually dont even think ill ever pick up my GTA V 360 copy ever again now, lol.

I hate that the voice chat is global. A localized chat would create stories and bonds, enemies and allies. Global chat just creates a massive canvas for trolling. I fully expect to never have to listen to 30 people doing their own things in an open world game.

I feel like Rockstar is actually trolling the playerbase by forcing you to listen to 29 kids do their own separate things while shouting the N word. I don't know what the f*ck they were thinking when they decided to goad you into singing in the shower.. it's a novelty laugh the first time and then it's just annoying. I don't know how some people can be so unaware of everyone elses opinions by shouting in the voice chat "PUT THE MONEY IN THE BAG" over and over again. You really think the guy mid car chase with his friends wants to hear you guys shouting some random sh*t that he has no part in?

I love voice chat in games.. and oddly, I have to turn it off in GTA Online because it holds no value whatsoever. There isn't even an option in between turn it on or turn it off. You can switch it to crew mode, but you're already talking to your friends on mumble or something. You can join another crew.. but you're still potentially talking to a bunch of people that aren't connected to the particular event going on in the game around you at the time.

What confuses me the most is when people show up and turn their push to talk button off. Just feedback loops while they talk to their friends on skype or some sh*t.

There isn't even a local text chat.. Do you know the value that would come out of being able to talk to the guy chasing you down the road or the guy you're trying to shoot at? This whole format, along with the spawning right next to where you die, creates this deathmatch bullsh*t that I only see continuing to spiral out of control in the future with armored vehicles and exploding everythings.

I need a modded gta online.
