maybebaby87
as you all may know, the altitude when flying an aircraft is not given when flying in gta. so i decided to calculate the maximum height myself by measuring the time it took for me to hit the ground once i ejected myself from the point at which a plane (besra) begins to stall. I broke the problem up into 2 parts: the time (T1) it would take the falling person to reach max speed under gravitys acceleration & the time (T2) it would take from that point to the point where the person hits the ground. Each part has a corresponding distance travelled (D1 & D2), which will be added at the end. ---calculations 1. Total time to hit the ground = 1 minute 22 secs --OR-- 82 secs... which is equal to T1+T2 2. velocity = acceleration * time --OR-- velocity / acceleration = time (T1) acceleration on earth caused by gravity is 9.8 m/s^2. the terminal velocity of a free falling human (average weight and size ) in earths atomsphere with his/her arms and legs outstretched is 53m/s. 53/9.8=5.4 3. kinematics equation... distance = 0.5 * acceleration * time^2 --OR-- distance (D1) = 0.5 * acceleration * time (T1) * time (T1) 0.5*9.8*5.4*5.4=142 meters 3. Total time - T1 = T2... 82 secs - 5.4 secs = 76.6 secs (T2) 4. distance (D2) = velocity * time (T2) 53*76.6=4060 meters 5. total distance = distance (D1) + distance (D2) 142+4060=4202 meters --OR-- 13,786 feet!!!! feel free to point out any errors... and yes, i do have too much free time on my hands... really need a gf. erkwang
Fathead4A
Did you move the L stick at all while falling? Your terminal velocity will change quite a bit if you're gliding or diving straight down. Did you unlock all the achievements yet? That should keep you busy for a while.
007_eleven
The PS4, XBONE and PC all have altimeters in their first person interiors, pretty sure the max is 8100ft... Nice physics skills though, I'm sure there are plenty of qt girls in your university course to impress *snickers*. masterconch87
why not try it in multiplayer with a friend, one goes up and the other checks the map to see how much feet they are away.. Sithisvoid and Nemecsis
Jehannum
Your main error was assuming that GTAO physics = real world physics.

RogerWho
Nice. The weird part is I could do these calculations back in elementary school, but now I have no idea how physics work anymore.
