There are '.vid' files. You need to upload them to youtube, and download them back, and then you can actually open and play them. But the .mp4 video files are available there and can be used in 3rd party editing software. I also heard that you can get better results by capturing (with something like OBS) the preview directly from the editor in a lossless format (no compression).
