There Was A Time I Hated The Combat

For a very-very long time I hated the combat mechanics in GTA Online. It seemed that everyone always had the upper hand and only used Aim Assist.

 

I absolutely avoided other players unless I was in a Jet.

 

That has completely changed in the last 48 hours.

 

I have been playing GTA Online since it launched in late 2013. Although on and off though June-November of 2014. Only really started playing it "hardcore" since Heists.

 

Reason mention this is so I don't seem like a complete idiot for not knowing you could Quick Throw explosives or Run and Gun. Actually just found out you could do them after watching a Quick Scoping video online.

 

Being able to run around with a reticle on screen has been something I've wanted for a very long time. Completely changes the way I play the game.

 

That said, you happen to see me Online killing you with the Carbine Rifle, its 'cause I want the camo unlocks.

 

Seeing how i didn't know about this, chances are someone else may not. In which case this may change your GTA Online experience.

 

What is something you figured out that changed the way you play GTA Online?

How do you do that running&shooting? I've come across some players that do this and I've always wondered since.

Gently hold down the right trigger/R2. Not all the way.

 

I'm supised people still don't know this as it tells you in the first story mission how to do it and it was in GTA IV.

You slightly depress the RT to Run and Gun. Its about halfway. Practice with it and you'll find the sweet spot.

 

I found it is a great way to snipe as well. I'll get my reticle on a NPC/Player and them quickly hold L2 to zoom in.

Don't aim. Just pull the RT while running.

I knew you could hold down RT and shoot with Free Aim. But you can slightly depress RT about half way and see a reticle without firing.

Ohhh OK I did know the feature then LOL but it seems pretty difficult to aim with it at least for me...I'll need to try it out more I guess.

You can press sprint button while aiming. It'll be less accurate though.
